Who is the oldest mainstream rapper we can think of?

Here are the top 3 I could come up with:

Wonder Mike b. 30 Apr 1957 (67) of The Sugarhill Gang
Grandmaster Flash b. 1 Jan 1958 (66) of Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five
Ice-T b. 16 Feb 1958 (66)

Before anyone comes up with something stupid – mainstream rappers – I'm not asking about some random 95 year old granny on Instagram who went viral after her grandkids filmed them.

Afrika Bambaataa is 67. I have no idea about what's mainstream or not here, but he seems somewhat big. A few weeks older than Wonder Mike. He also seems to have the health history of a 107-year-old Indian politician.

"First MC in hip-hop" Coke La Rock is 69, but is the only of these five I've never heard of before, honestly.

Assuming that Pete and Bas don't count.... DJ Hollywood is 69, one of the many people who claim to have been the first person to rap over breaks at house parties.

I’ve seen elsewhere that it was fake. Not sure what’s going on

It could be! I only found this source, and lots of mentions on social media - but the latter doesn't have to mean much.

It could absolutely be true tho cause I heard he was sick. Guess it’s just a waiting game.

DJ Clark Kent, famed hip-hop producer has died at 57:

Even I know the name! Kind of a bigger wipe-out lately...

Could honestly be an impersonator commenting this but on this post his daughter refutes it. I’ve seen people saying he was in hospice but the rumor mill is dangerous.

:( aww, I like a lot of their stuff. Godevil was the first song that I heard from them, and since then, I was hooked.

Samantha Lawrence of Wee Papa Girl Rappers reportedly dead aged 55: https://www.kentonline.co.uk/news/national/wee-papa-girl-rappers-singer-samantha-lawrence-dies-aged-55-134093/

A miss for my 1988 TOTP theme team as they had two top thirty UK Chart entries in 1988, highest being Wee Rule which reached #6 in October that year.

Oh, I liked Wee Rule pretty much at that time and still got the vinyl.

The song reached No. 10 in the German charts.

Today I can't stand the rap part but the chorus is still catchy.

Interesting, though I also put rapper OG Maco on my Shaun's Deadpool team because the site said he had AIDS. But then, Prince being a Jehova's Witness also makes me believe that he could suffer an early death.

According to a statement from his family released through his social media accounts, OG Maco (born Benedict Ihesiba) is in “critical but stable condition” after suffering a gunshot wound in an apparent suicide attempt.

That post you quoted actually had me predicting the death of Prince three days before it happened...

And about OG Maco, we are never wrong here, just maybe a little too early sometimes.
