Banshees Scream 110 Posted January 2, 2006 Politician of some sort and according to his Wikipedia biography on Thatchers 80th birthday celebration he attended but not on foot it was in a wheel chair since as they describe "His extreme old age" confined him too one. Looks promising. And I think I can get use - to seeing Margaret Thatcher's name hanging on spot 36...
Guest ousgg Posted January 5, 2006 Of some sort?! He had a very well-known affair in the 1960s with a lass called Christine Keeler. and was the instigator of British political scandal. See http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A2627255 for more (it's not Wiki because I wrote it and therefore think it's better )
maryportfuncity 10,684 Posted January 5, 2006 Christine Keeler is still alive, 63 and going strong. Although probably not for money these days! How about some reality tv show reunites the pair of them for one final shag? What harm could it do now? Great tv and the aftermath would probably give us a fatality in the top 50. See http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A2627255 for more (it's not Wiki because I wrote it and therefore think it's better ) I was intrigued to know how you knew she wasn't wearing knickers. themaninblack 2,112 Posted March 10, 2006 John Profumo dead at 91 Good luck with the tag line. Since he was known as 'Jack' rather than 'John', how about "Jack in a box!"
Canadian Paul 97 Posted March 10, 2006 A sordid affair with death?
Windsor 2,235 Posted March 10, 2006 So deathlist is back on track going by the 'at least one per month' target. I heard he was dead on the radio but I didn't know he was on the list so this was a nice surprise! Anyway, John Profumo is deathlist's 3rd success in 2006. He is the 140th success since 1987. The 2006 list is now in 15th place shared (1989 and 1990), out of the 20 deathlists since 1987.

Tempus Fugit 214 Posted March 10, 2006 Hooray for us, All I can say is that it's a Scandal that he didn't Keeler over sooner. Resigned honourably, or Hobson's choice?

Guest iain Posted March 10, 2006 Hooray for us, All I can say is that it's a Scandal that he didn't Keeler over sooner. dya think he died of shock when he saw the outcome of his latest visit to the hairdressers? (looks a bit like John Lydons dad there!) come to think of it,given his meanderings among the female populace, maybe he WAS John Lydons dad!
VSBfromH 74 Posted March 10, 2006 Resigned honourably, or Hobson's choice? TF, Is that a clever pun on the fact that his wife was the actress Valerie Hobson, who starred with John Mills in "Great Expectations", or am I giving you undue credit?
Cerberus 304 Posted March 10, 2006 I hear that Tony Blair described him as "a politician with a glittering career who made a serious mistake." Rather an ungenerous tribute, if that's what it was, to a man who spent the last 40 years working for the poor in London's East End. Perhaps Tone would have spoken of him more kindly if it'd been someone from his own side. Come to think of it, he could have been describing himself.

Guest iain Posted March 10, 2006 maybe Profumos death will start a spate of deaths of elderly British politicians..Michael Foot must be abut ready to croak..if he makes it to his 93rd birthday in july he'll become the longest living leader of any of the 3 major political parties inthe UK (Jim Callaghan holds the current record, dying one day before his 93rd birthday).Somehow I dont think old Michael merits that acheivment... Cerberus 304 Posted March 10, 2006 I've just heard Tony Blair's comments in full, and he did go on to mention Profumo's charity work ... some rather selective editing on the mid-day news on radio 2.
