maryportfuncity 10,642 Posted June 30, 2015 Barbara Williams dies after waiting for specialist equipment to take her to hospital: http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/20stone-woman-dies-3hr-ambulance---9558652 Barbara Williams was left to lie in agony on cold floor because first paramedic couldn't move her Am I missing summat, apart from the obviously absent "a" before "cold floor." Like, maybe the story might read: paramedic left to wait for aid after prone porker proves too hefty to heave over.
gcreptile 10,964 Posted July 9, 2015 A 1.200 pound man named Robert Butler has died in Rhode Island: http://wpri.com/2015/07/08/1200-pound-man-passes-away-at-eleanor-slater-hospital/ It sounds as if the "needs a crane to leave house"-stage is when it becomes dangerous. gcreptile 10,964 Posted July 13, 2015 Kirsty Derry, who had a rare genetic disorder that caused her to have constant high appetite, 'ate herself to death': http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/woman-ate-herself-death-aged-6051715 The name of the disorder is "Prader-Willi Syndrome" (PWS). Apparently, the death already happened in 2013, so it's a bit of a mystery why the Mirror picked up the story only now. My guess is fat-shaming, also, this part is too good not to share: "Just a week earlier (before her death), Kirsty had posted a heartbreaking final Facebook status which gave an insight into her battle with food. "yummy! yummy ! yummy! fillet steak new potatoes and salad I had for tea tonight," she wrote."

It's true, I don't know whether he is fearless, but he is definitely fat. And this thread is (or has become?) more about gloating at their weight, than about fame.... see Carl Thompson. Edit: But yes, maybe I reduce the posting of these kinds of stories Perhaps in the world of being famous for being famous or even just famously ill, "Britain's fattest man" qualifies by virtue of being the, ahem, record holder. Also he increased his eligibility somewhat by actually dying. If however every overweight, unemployed, "a little bit ill" but not quite "circling the drain" *, attention seeker in Britain were to get a mention, this would be easily be the 'fattest' thread on here. *phrase courtesy of Bibliogryphon.
En Passant 3,741 Posted July 23, 2015 I should add that this wasn't a pop at you GCR, It was more of a personal rant at the likes of the Daily Mail for passing this drivel off as news and the clickbait culture where one can find (merely culled from the "links" at the bottom of that very same Daily Mail page) directions to such newsworthy and enthralling items as: 20 hilarious photo's proving cats want humans dead; 13 gay celebrities that haven't officially come out of the closet (#10 we are reliably informed is shocking) and 5 minute breakfast cheats that will change your life. I have no reason to doubt that these amazing factoids have their place in the vastness of the internet, I only question their validity as either news or in the case of the estimable Mr Price a relevant subject for deadpools. Assuming your telly is the size you claim it'll be round to yours to watch the touching documentary about the late 65 stone Carl Thompson on Channel Five on Thursday. Obviously, out of respect to those he left behind Channel Five have already started - ahem - bigging this up in the press, with the man spread across the best part of two pages in The Sun today. His head's mainly on the left hand page, incidentally.

Obviously, out of respect to those he left behind Channel Five have already started - ahem - bigging this up in the press, with the man spread across the best part of two pages in The Sun today. His head's mainly on the left hand page, incidentally. Watched the show. I have to say Carl's story is a tragedy, regardless of his situation, how he got there or even his non-comprehension of what he needed to do. It should never have got to that stage. I may also add from a personal point of view, it's deeply saddening that Carl appears to have paid for cars, holidays, rent and rates in abundance to the local takeaway shop, whose owner and staff should be deeply ashamed of (a) putting their business before people, and (b ) not involving any other service who could have helped Carl long before his own too late cry for help was heard. Admittedly he was a hard person to have empathy with, but where along the line did those he knew and had dealings with lose their common sense/basic human compassion? Crikey, my other brothers and my dad put on a stone and I'm at them.
