Good old fashioned royalling today by visiting the hospital.

Much respect, Ma'am.

Can't believe seem to believe some people are criticising for showing a lack of empathy in that visit. She has a 92 year old woman who undoubtedly would've struggled with those visits, the fact she did them rather than sent Charles or William is a testament to her ability in her role - one she never really had any choice in.

She looked well at the hospital today. I think she'll keep going for a while.

Damn, IDK what she was hospitalized for, but she looks like she's in her 20s!

New documentary highlights how Queen Elizabeth II shielded Harry and William from finding out Diana died.

That's not quite right.  Prince Charles told them she had died when they woke up that morning.

It's not difficult to understand why they wanted to protect the boys from the wall-to-wall media coverage.  Common sense.

Non-starter...the Queen will be receiving a telegram from herself in nine years time :)

Could this be the final time a PM goes to see the Queen after an election?

Given the likely landslide, the Queen will be hoping not.

From Wiki, via Andrew Neil's book:

Quote

""The Queen was reportedly worried that British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's economic policies fostered social divisions, and was alarmed by high unemployment, a series of riots, the violence of a miners strike, and Thatcher's refusal to appy sanctions against the apartheid regime in South Africa. Thatcher said the Queen would vote for the Social Democratic Party."

Likes Dr Who, didn't like Thatcher.

I can live with that.

With the birthday honours out, I'm just wondering if Her Majesty ran a gloved finger over my deadpools?

"One thinks one should make that Young Willz a companion of honour..."

"Mmm, dear, the wretched Scot supports Thistle. Isn't that punishment enough?"

"One agrees, Philip. Oh well. Where's Macca's email again?"

Just a heads up in the future, that emoji is more suitable for people who are on their last legs, and not for people who have years (presumably) left in them. I'm sure you'll figure it out though.

Don't worry, we have all taken time to get used to this thing. I'm still not sure I'm using it fully...

Don't worry, we all make mistakes sometimes. I imagine that you'll become a great poster, and I hope you stay on the forums. We like having more people on the forums, it gives more diversity and more good people to talk to. ^_^

Also bear in mind that it's inappropriate to use a "chanting priest with a cross on his hat emoticon" for celebrities that are either Jewish/Muslim/Zoroastrian/... or non-observant. :P

And only use the "burning in hell" emoticon for paedophiles or mass murderers.

And while at it, forget about these silly rules and use whatever you like and have fun. :D

Apparently the queen was not strapped in a seat belt, so of course the BBC is reporting it now.
