Exeter City have just signed goalie Lenny Pidgeley, a move creating much mirth amongst fans of his former club in Carlisle. The man's ability to "do a job" for clubs based miles away from London has been compromised in the past by his dual fondness for driving flash cars and drinking alcohol.

All of which made the point that our current 6th place in the league is very reliant on around 14 good players, strength in depth clearly once again beyond the budget.

What is it with Carlisle and cups this season? Saw a lacklustre CUFC spanked by lowly Aldershot last week but at least we had the excuse of our new goal machine being cup tied in the Carling Cup. Dumped by the odd goal in five at Accrington Stanley tonight, so our defence of the JPT and the Wembley dream is off. So were two of our players. Gonna be a long season.
