Ed Dailey — the affable and revered Tri-Cities broadcaster, whose buttery baritone graced the airwaves for several years as the host of KORD-FM's "Legends of Country" — died Wednesday after a long battle with lymphoma.

He was 65.

His death comes less than a month after his family lost their Benton City home in a fire. Dailey, who was terminally ill and on hospice care, was pulled from his burning home by family.

Radio pioneer and broadcast school founder Specs Howard died Saturday morning at age 96.

The Specs Howard School of Media Arts trained generations of broadcasters who made their names in metro Detroit and beyond from its founding by Howard in 1970.

I’m here to tell you anyone who was anyone in radio from 1975 onward, at least in the Midwest USA, came out of Specs Howard School, among them Howard Stern.  It’s about as synonymous with successful broadcast arts graduates as Syracuse University is the past 30 years.

Legend was our Sparksy. Had the honour of meeting him at football and he was a great fella.

Radio Devon will be much poorer as will Argyle commentaries. Heaven is bit greener today.
