Sheikh Hasan Nasrallah

Recommended Posts

Coughed through a speech a few days ago, now Twitter going mental that he might be on a ventilator or even dead.

Been here before with this joker...let's see how the news develops.

Decapitation strike against Nasrallah by Israel might have hit their targetStatement shortly from Hezbollah.

Edit: sources claim he is safe.

Just saw on twitter that Nasrallah's #2, Hashim Safi al-Din was reportedly killed in the strike.

Iran is retracting their reports he is still alive. Hezbollah can not deny for too long. This looks like the end for him.

I personally believe this, if confirmed, is a turning point in the throwing of stuff over borders.

Cannot see how Iran will sit this out.

Netanyahu has condemned Israel to fight until the last person standing. (And thus securing his power).

Imo.

Hmmmm... I think this does not mean a war with Iran. Hezbollah is a militant organization recognized as terrorist by many states, and (formally) does not represent Lebanon. I guess there will be the usual lame retaliation from Iran and nothing more.

It depends what Iran want. They must know a full on war with Israel will likely only end with Iran’s destruction.

What are Iran’s options? Strike Israel directly and get flattened, including their nuclear capabilities? Or take the loss, mumble some angry words and bolster up their own defences. This has been a clinical destruction of Hezbollah over a fortnight, from the infiltration of communications to the decapitation of the leadership. Iran will be worried - in fact their own Supreme Leader has been taken to the bunkers. Israel also this morning informed Lebanon that an Iranian cargo plane would be shot down if it was allowed to land at Beirut airport, and Iran took heed and turned the plane around.

The question might be if Iran’s current leadership feel they have to respond despite by far the likeliest outcome of that being the destruction of Iran.

Nasrallah - in Russian, it is a homophone of the past tense verb of the feminine first, second and third person singular of the indicative mood - "to shit"

IDF reporting that Ali Karaki (wiki), commander of Hezbollah's Southern Front, and also Iranian brigadier general Abbas Nilforoushan (wiki) also killed.

Awaiting confirmation from the other side I guess.

Let's see if things will quiet down, but here's some kind of a list of possibilities if they don't:

Major leaders:

Naim Qassem, 71, Caretaker Secretary-General. Nasrallah's longtime second-in-command. Considered a possible successor, but Hashim is more likely.

Hashim Safi Al Din: 60, head of Hezbollah's Executive Council. Considered a potential successor to Nasrallah, another hardliner and potential next target.

Mohammad Yazbek, 74: co-founder, religious head of Hezbollah. Close with Khamenei. Looks 90. Considered third-most likely successor after the two above. Ultra-hardliner cunt.

Council of Jihad (around half of the members killed in recent months):

Hashim Safi Al Din (mentioned earlier)

Muhammad Haydar: 64, background leader who allegedly runs Hezbollah networks operating outside of Lebanon.

Talal Hamiyah: 72, Senior commander, Chief of Staff of the External Security Organization. Major target for some time. Attempted assasination earlier this week.

Financiers:

Ali Youssef Charara: 56, major financier, Spectrum Investment Group Holding.

Adham Hussain Tabaja: 53, Al-Inmaa Engineering and Contracting.

Others:

Nabil Qaouk: 60, Deputy member of the executive council of Hezbollah, cleric. Killed in airstrike.

Muhammad Kawtharani: 77, 66 or 63, took over Qassem Soleimani's operations in Iraq after his death. Member of Hizballah’s Political Council

Abu Ali Rida: Mentioned above...

Haytham Ali Tabatabai: around 56. A ghost.

Subhi al-Tufayli, 76, founder and initial Secretary-General of Hezbollah. Rumored to have been killed in June, later denied.

Al-Tufayli is an ally of the west and has since condemned Hezbollah, which he co-founded. He was expelled in 1998. I would be shocked if he was targeted in any way.

Nasrallah had the ultimate bad luck, as his death was completely overshadowed by the demise of a universally loved leading lady, organic farmer Pappammal.
