Drive-by Flatterer 1 Posted October 12, 2006 I searched and couldn't find mention of Robert Anton Wilson, counter culture godfather and friend of Tim Leary. Could be an 'early doors' bidder for 2007. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Anton_Wilson Quote: "On June 22, 2006, Huffington Post blogger Paul Krassner reported that Robert A. Wilson is currently under hospice care at home with friends and family. [1] On 2 October 2006 Douglas Rushkoff reported that Wilson was in severe financial trouble.[2] As of 3 October the front page of rawilson.com contains an appeal for funds. Slashdot, Boing Boing, and the Church of the Subgenius also picked up on the story, linking to Rushkoff's appeal. [3] [4] These efforts succeeded beyond expectation and raised over USD 80,000 which will support him for at least 6 months.[citation needed]"
DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted October 12, 2006 Good work Drive By Flatterer! It's so nice to see someone new contributing here. One note of caution though - Post Polio Syndrome is rarely life threatening unless it occurs in people left with severe respiratory impairment following the original polio infection. Having looked at his website, I am rather tempted to purchase: "Robert Anton Wilson Explains Everything, or Old Bob Exposes His Ignorance" (9-hour audio)
maryportfuncity 10,645 Posted October 12, 2006 Robert Anton Wilson's official site, one to watch I reckon. Good spot. Thinking about recent banter on the George Melly thread of late, R.A.W does look like the kinda guy who could be persuaded to join in on his own thread, should such a thing exist. Drive-by Flatterer 1 Posted December 13, 2006 I posted this 'tip' on the Ideas for 2007 thread, I still think it is a strong contender for 2007. Robert Anton Wilson - American Counter Culture philosopher http://rawilson.com/main.shtml His site says his health has improved, but....
Canadian Paul 97 Posted January 9, 2007 Robert Anton Wilson - US novellist & thinker. Obese and ill, currently in a hospice. Now he has "two days to two months" to live.
Phantom 2,533 Posted January 10, 2007 Robert Anton Wilson - US novellist & thinker. Obese and ill, currently in a hospice. Now he has "two days to two months" to live. Drive-by Flatterer 1 Posted January 11, 2007 Not long now for Robert Anton Wilson according to his own blog - http://robertantonwilson.blogspot.com/2007...good-night.html Words that all 'drive by ranters' spitting self-righteous venom from the realms Daily Mail land would do well to remember. Hopefully he'll hold out until the 23rd http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_23_enigma For those that don't know the 23 enigma

Canadian Paul 97 Posted January 11, 2007 (edited) Now he's a near miss. I had hoped this topic would live for a while. Yuck. regards, Hein I was hoping he'd live until about April, when he wouldn't need a proper obit for the WDP. In any case, I think he deserves an exclamation point near his name.
