Windsor 2,233 Posted October 20, 2005 I now think its worth putting the Judge who is trying Saddam on the list. Now a target for assassins for helping the Americans. Now would it be fair to knock off a man just due to the results of his job? It would appear so. Saddam's lawyer abducted. Chances of survival??

Our Sole 5 Posted October 21, 2005 It would appear so. Saddam's lawyer abducted. Chances of survival?? Nil - BBC reporting his body been found - still on breaking news and no URL yet but I am sure someone will oblige... Edit: Thanks Lady Die!
Windsor 2,233 Posted October 21, 2005 I was watching the news (surprised?) and I learned that the Judge in Saddam's case is a Curd. I believe the Curds were heavily oppressed by Saddam. Anyhow, if he's found guilty (which is fairly probably) it is very likely that the Curdish Judge will implement capital punishment. But then again, if this week is anything to go by, the Judge shall probably be a 'Cu'rd Creamed' by the time sentencing comes up. (In case you had not guessed the purpose of this entire post was to tell my custard cream gag.)

Anyone up for adding it? Definition in twenty words or less

Magere Hein 1,400 Posted November 8, 2005 Saddam trial lawyer shot dead Dangerous job, that. Does someone know an online list of Saddam trial lawyers, so I can pick a few for DDP? regards, Hein
Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted November 8, 2005 It would be a lot quicker if they set Saddam free wearing a T-shirt saying "I am a Shiite". He'd be blown up before he got off the courthouse steps.
Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted November 8, 2005 Thanks TF, I am aware Saddam's a Sunni. Hence the need to dress him in a Shiite T-shirt to confuse his bretheren, who seem to be the ones blowing up 98% of the country. The Americans are putting him on trial for a number of reasons. They need to justify the invasion, and since there are no WMD's, if a trial by the Iraqis finds he committed crimes against his own people, that enhances the US's position that Saddam needed to go for his evil deeds. Plus a demonstration of a proper trial, in which he gets the chance to defend himself, is an example of democracy at work in Iraq, another US goal. Finally, there's probably more satisfaction achieved by the slow, torturous process of a trial, with the accompanying media coverage, ending in either life imprisonment or execution, than if a faceless GI had just shot him. But you make a fair point about just getting it over with already.
