DevonDeathTrip 2,366 Posted February 14, 2007 Good call "Two minutes into his check-up the doctor identified that something was "seriously wrong" with his right lung. After having the lung drained a scan revealed that his right kidney was "completely consumed" by cancer." Nasty. Very nasty.
maryportfuncity 10,684 Posted February 14, 2007 Lung and kidney and a whole kidney consumed by cancer; that is NOT GOOD! Good spot, cheers!

Then again, one less Outspoking Manc is never a bad thing He is still available on DEATHLISTSWEEP Current pot stands at £40 Hey deathlistsweep, not for me to say, I have no moderating or admin powers, but if I did you would be either out on your arse or you'd be handing over a big wad of readies for advertising a commercial service. I have no views on your "service" one way or the other and I'm sure some deathlisters might like a sweep (although I see you take a rake off). Nevertheless I think it's a bit naughty, sneaky and cunning (some of which I rather admire). I suppose we should be thankfull it's not porn or SPAM. Congratulations on the most cunning "disguised spam" I have seen in a while. Why haven't you been rumbled, or am I alone in thinking that you are doing something that needs rumbling? Where's MH when you need a ruling?

Hey No offence caused by the 'advertising' My website is a newly set up thing and I was just trying to generate some interest. Its mainly set up for family and friends as a bit of a laugh, but i thought i would mention it on here to see if anyone wants to join in. I do not take any rake off it, it genuinely costs 39p to take a £5 payment thru Paypal. The website cost £65 to set up. The other 11p goes towards that. It would take 590 people to take part this year for me to break even. The Liverpool jibe was a bit cheap too. I genuinely did not mean to cause offence by mentioning it on here, I am just trying to drum up some interest for my new site in a forum where people are interested in that kind of thing. Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted February 15, 2007 I've had a look at Deathlistsweep and it seems alright, even if it is shamelessly trading off the DeathList concept and our good name for commercial gain. Were we bloodthirsty captains of industry we might look for a cut of deathlistsweep's profits, but for now we'll just keep an eye on things.

Fair enough. But maybe it would have been prudent to have run it by an admin before posting. The nearest thing to moneymaking I have seen on this site is Deathlist mugs. Anyways, as I said, I'm just a poster who knows nuffing. Without wanting to question your honesty, what's to stop you running off with the money or rigging the outcome with a dream team that you or one of your relatives just might have happened to have submitted? Lard Bazaar 3,803 Posted February 15, 2007 I seem to recall reading somewhere that you can't play a deathlist type game for money because it constitutes gambling or some such guff - or have I just made that up?

Without wanting to question your honesty, what's to stop you running off with the money or rigging the outcome with a dream team that you or one of your relatives just might have happened to have submitted? My website is not for profit. Genuinely. There is no way of me rigging it because you only pick one name, rather than teams. As soon as someone who has been nominated dies, the person who nominated that person wins the pot. The website was set up primarily for family and friends. If anyone else wants to take part, they can. I can only promise not to run off with the money, which currently stands at a staggering £40. All 8 people on there so far are my friends, I am not going to lose 8 good friends for the sake of 40 measly quid. If anyone wants to risk a fiver as to whether I will pay out or not when someone wins, then go for it. If you don't then that's fine too. I did not mean to upset anyone by mentioning it on here and I am sorry if anyone is offended. The website is just supposed to be a bit of fun. This is not to be construed as advertising or plugging either, I am just trying to clear my name. I will not do it again. Can we all be friends now please? Godot 149 Posted February 15, 2007 Hey Craig, I'm sorry. Cowby Ronnie has run you over, so to speak, and that's good enough for me. I was just wondering if you could be offering a kind of Ponzi Scheme. Ponzi told everyone he was an OK guy too apparently. Some of the biggest crooks are the nicest guys. Good luck with your own scheme Craig. Stay cool. PS. It's my theory that the guy in the photograph is Notapotato.

Real Madron 6 Posted February 15, 2007 Craig are you Chinese by any chance? Wang Zhendong promised investors returns of up to 60% if they put money into the fictitious ant-breeding project, the court heard. '..ere mate, you give me 1000 yen, i'll give you back 600! up for it? and i'll throw in a few giant ants..'

As Lard Bazaar has already suggested, I too am pretty sure the concept of that site is illegal. the same law that prohibits tontines and the like. If you read the blurb on the DDP site they say "for legal reasons entry to the competition is free of charge" or words to that effect. Also, if I were GR or MH, I'd be up in arms about the similarity of the names, coupled with the prominent placing of the DL banner on the page. Once they get back from Skegness, we can ask them. Until then, I suppose we'll just have to tolerate it.
imitationleather 0 Posted February 15, 2007 Anyway, if I could just drag this kicking and screaming back to the topic... f**k, it sounds a bit bleak for Tony. The bloke's a w**ker, but I still respect him for what he did. Whatever that was. Erm... I suppose now everyone knows not to ask me to write his obituary if he does fall off his perch! Anyway, I hope he gets well soon and all that (not that it looks very likely from that article).

deathlistsweep.net 0 Posted February 15, 2007 I apologise for distracting attention away from the discussion on Tony Wilson's demise yet again, I just want to address two issues that have come up a couple of times.... 1 - The site is not illegal. I am a lawyer and had a look through the Gambling Act 2005 when I came up with the idea and before i set the site up. I am exempt from holding a gaming licence under both:- Section 19(1)(a) of the Act (non-commercial purposes (it is a hobby and a bit of fun - I am operating (and will continue to operate) the site at a loss)); and Section 129 of the Act (small-scale operators) These are the same principles that do not make it a legal requirement to hold a licence in order to organise a sweep for the World Cup or Grand National at work. 2 - The use of Deathlist in the title of the website. Me and my friends are big fans of the site and it was from the site that I came up with the idea. The link on my site to deathlist is not a devious thing, it is a recommendation to anyone who visits my site to have a look at what i think is the funniest site on the internet. Cowboy Ronnie has stated that he has checked my site out and its ok (retrospectively, i accept). I have also now placed a note at the top of my front page saying that my site is in no way affiliated with deathlist.net I know I have gone on, but i just wanted to clear those two things up. That is all I have to say about that. Cheers... So... Tony, its not looking well is it...
