DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted June 25, 2009 Zimbabwe's Vice President Joseph Msika, 86, is in hospital. The official explanation is a rather vague statement that he is "unwell", but he suffered a stroke last month and is believed to be suffering complications after recent surgery. DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted August 8, 2009 John Nkomo, one of Robert Mugabe's most trusted aides and a favourite to succeed the late Vice President Joseph Msika, is reported to be suffering from cancer and undergoing intensive chemotherapy. DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted August 25, 2009 More Mugabe health gossip. Sources say Mugabe was suffering from prostate cancer and had taken a week off to fly to the Far East for a "medical emergency." Sources say the country's leader of 29 years is determined to stay on and contest the next elections despite suffering a number of fits in recent months and collapsing at State House recently. "He is prepared to contest them from his deathbed," one official said. He is understood to have travelled to the Far East with his wife, Grace, amid reports he is in "serious condition." maryportfuncity 10,658 Posted August 26, 2010 the State House has been equipped with state-of-the-art resuscitation facilities. I'll bet his police chiefs are loving that. When they're not helping the old boy they can batter some political opponent to the brink of death, revive him, and start all over again.

I think it's quite likely that Tsvangirai will gain the presidency - after a lot of turmoil to get rid of Mugabe's cronies in the Zanu-PF, that is. Not sure as to whether Tsvangirai will make a big difference, but he seems a more likeable chap than Mugabe (who doesn't?!) so I would give him a chance. DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted April 26, 2011 Mugabe's health seems to be on the decline. There have been a lot of stories like this in the last few weeks. I think the DL committee should consider having another punt on him when they gather to consider the 2012 list.

I think the DL committee should consider having another punt on him when they gather to consider the 2012 list. Seeing that this thread had been posted on raised my hopes that the bastard was dead. Still, I guess it would be better (for the DL if not for the people of Zimbabwe) if he did survive until 1st Jan 2012, assuming of course he was put on next year's list. Spade_Cooley 9,544 Posted August 17, 2011 Solomon Mujuru, former leader of Mugabe's guerilla forces during the Bush War, has died in a fire at his home. Completely coincidentally, he was under house arrest at the time for his role in a plot to oust Mugabe.

Call me sentimental but Fidel Castro deserves a slightly higher place in history than just being a dictator.
