The Digital Nun gives a peak into an interesting situation.

Feeling shitty after last chemo, weak, and may not get her flu jab. Indeed it might be more dangerous to receive it.

Former Nashville Catholic priest Edward McKeown, convicted in 1999 of the rape of a teenage boy a decade after he was forced from the priesthood, died Sunday while serving a 25-year sentence. He was 74.

McKeown, who was incarcerated at South Central Correctional Facility in Clifton, Tennessee, died at a local hospital of natural causes.

McKeown pleaded guilty to abusing a 12-year-old boy in his neighborhood over a three-year period. He was due to be released May 1, 2020.

At the time of his sentencing, prosecutors said the crime was part of a pattern of pedophilia. McKeown had abused some 30 boys over two decades in Nashville and in East Tennessee, according to prosecutors.

Church officials knew about accusations against McKeown in the years before his arrest, but did not report them to police. Instead they sent McKeown for treatment then forced him from the priesthood in 1989.

According to Wikipedia, as of 2009, there were 5,100 bishops total in the Latin and Eastern churches of the Catholic Church.

Exactly. And most, if not all are aged between their 40s and early 100s.

And you're genuinely surprised that 10 / 5100 died in half a month?

Yes, as I regularly check the Wikipedia deathlist and post cleric deaths in the thread.  I can tell you from experience this is a disproportionate number of Roman Catholic prelates to die in the given time frame. As a specific example, December had 16 such deaths, or about one every two days. This is about twice the rate, nearly one per day.

Linked to this, as he was not disgusting enough, Ernest Angley has now been accused of sexual abuse.

There's a tape out there now... where he confesses that he lay with a man, but not until the "very end", if you know what I mean.

Anyway, he also once coerced a 76-year old dementia sufferer to write him a check of 340.000$, so he's apparently someone who deserves all bad things happening to him.

Kao Chun Ming aged 89.

Was 5'4 tall, a Taiwanese Presbyterian minister who served jail time in the 80's for his beliefs.

Which means at his death, he was a Wee free Presbyterian.
