Lindon Crow, who played for the New York Giants & Los Angeles Rams and whose greatest accomplishment was three interceptions in the 1958 sudden-death NFL championship dubbed 'the greatest game ever played', has died.  He was 85.

Former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Bob Skoronski has died at age 84.  He played with the Packers during the 1960s under Coach Vince Lombardi. 

Skoronski pro football career started in 1956 when the Packers drafted the offensive tackle out of Indiana University in the fifth round.  He not only captained the Packers' Super Bowl championship teams in the '60s, but he was a Pro Bowl selection in 1966 and earned himself a spot in both the Green Bay Hall of Fame (1976) and on the Packers' all-time Modern Era Team.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Vince Manuwai, 38, died Sunday, the team confirmed in a statement.   Manuwai was reportedly found unresponsive in his Hawaii apartment and taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.   The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted Manuwai in the third round of the NFL draft in 2003 and played for the Jaguars his entire NFL career through 2010.

Mike Ditka  

The 79 year old Chicago Bears Legend/NFL Hall Of Famer , later turned Superbowl Winning Coach,and later crappy ESPN pundit, was hospitalized earlier this week with chest pains.

Mike Ditka was released from a Naples hospital on Monday.  The part-time Naples resident and legendary former Bears coach, 79, had been hospitalized last week with what his agent had confirmed was a mild heart attack.

Former Univ of Georgia quarterback and offensive coordinator Mike Bobo is undergoing medical tests after he began to feel numbness in his feet.

Bobo and Colorado State Univ (where Bobo is head coach) athletic director Joe Parker both put out statements regarding the situation. Per the statement, Bobo first began to feel the numbness on Saturday.

Former two-time All-Pro linebacker Isiah "Butch" Robertson was killed when the limousine he was driving skidded on a rain-slicked curve on a dark, rural East Texas highway and was hit by two other vehicles.

The Los Angeles Rams drafted Robertson from Southern University in the first round of the 1971 NFL draft. He remained with the Rams through 1978, then played from 1979 to 1982 for the Buffalo Bills.

Former Washington (Univ of) tight end Rod Jones died by suicide on Saturday. He was 54.

"He's been dealing with depression for years," his daughter Jamie told The Seattle Times. "I can't pinpoint exactly when, but he started to notice some memory loss. He just couldn't remember things."

Jamie Jones said that her father shot himself with a shotgun Friday and was pronounced dead Saturday. According to his daughter, he had recently been diagnosed with early-onset dementia, his family suspected he suffered from CTE and he had a history of alcohol abuse. The family is making arrangements to have his brain donated to Boston University for CTE study.

Bill Fralic, an all-time great with the University of Pittsburgh who went on to play with the Atlanta Falcons, appearing in four straight Pro Bowls in the 2nd half of the 1980s, has died.  He was 56.

Speaking of jokes - if you got all the ALS cases from American football together in one care home the easiest job on the planet would be the comedian who turned up to entertain them every day by telling the same jokes in the same order

Former Notre Dame football player Josh Atkinson has passed away at the age of 25 of undisclosed causes, his family confirmed last night.

Atkinson played defensive back and was a special teams mainstay for the Fighting Irish from 2011-13. Atkinson’s twin brother George III, a running back, played with him at Notre Dame after the two starred together in high school. They are the sons of legendary Oakland Raiders defensive back George Atkinson.

Jim Margraff, the winningest football coach in Johns Hopkins University's history, has died at 58.  Citing a release from the Baltimore university, news outlets report the former Hopkins quarterback who led his alma mater's football program for 29 years died Wednesday at home.  Less than a month ago, Margraff guided the Blue Jays to the NCAA Division III semifinals for the first time. With Margraff at the helm, Johns Hopkins posted a 221-89-3 record, won a Centennial Conference-record 14 league championships and made the NCAA playoffs 10 times. With that record, Margraff is also the winningest coach in Maryland state history.

Former University of Virginia football George Welsh has died, his family announced on Friday. He was 85 years old.

Welsh, who coached at Virginia from 1982-2000, died on Wednesday, according to a school release.

Welsh is the most successful coach in UVa football history. During his 19 years at the helm, the Cavaliers compiled a record of 134-86-3 and shared two ACC titles. Welsh retired from coaching in 2000 as the winningest coach in ACC history.
