He played once for the Japanese national team, joining Fujita Industries in 1977. The club became league champions in 1977, 1979 and 1981. The club also won the Emperor's Cup in 1977 and 1979. He retired in 1988. Ueki began a coaching career at Fujita Industries (later Bellmare Hiratsuka). In November 1995, he became coach as successor to Mitsuru Komaeda and managed the 1995 Emperor's Cup and 1995 Asian Cup Winners' Cup. The club won the Asian Cup Winners' Cup.
