March 13: OH what a busy busy day!

Alexander II of Russia (Alexander the Liberator) - 135 years

U.S. President Benjamin Harrison - 115 years
Susan B. Anthony - 110 years

Krzysztof Kieślowski - 20 years (I can't believe it's been that long. The Red/White/Blue triliogy unsurpassed in cinema, imho)

Cinematographer John A. Alonzo (Chinatown, Scarface) - 15 years

Maureen Stapleton - 10 years

and on the same day as Ms Stapleton, the most important of the lot:
the aptly-named Robert C. Baker, who invented the chicken nugget! - 10 years

500th anniversary of the death of Vladislaus II aged 60. He was a monarch's monarch, being King of Hungary, Bohemia, Dalmatia, Croatia, Slavonia, Rama, Serbia, Galicia, Lodomeria, Cumania and Bulgaria. And he threw in Prince of Silesia and Luxembourg, and Margrave of Moravia and Lusatia for good measure

Janos Prohaska died on this day in 1974 aged 54.

He usually played the roles of animals or monsters including several from Star Trek TOS but is probably best remembered for playing Cookie Bear in the Andy Williams Show.

Missed it but can't let it go by - 14 March marked 25 years since Howard Ashman, lyricist for Little Shop Of Horrors, said "Feed Me" for the last time.

It IS the Ides of March after all:

Julius Caesar stabbed to death by trusted Brutus....now if my math serves (and let's not bicker about a gap in time, unless you can prove it...).... 44 BC + 2016 = 2060 years ago today!
Works for me lol

Well, it revolved around the fact that police drug busts are never done at 11am in the morning, when the suspect could be out and about, you do a drug raid at 4am when they're going to be asleep and the whole neighbourhood won't see a fucking police van and riot squad pull up.

I think the implication is that the raid was done at the behest of another, much bigger, drug lord in the area to take Smiley out of action. And then, of course, he happened to accidentally stab himself.
