A DDP solo pick and a joker.

Funny story. Today I read about the death of John Dunlop and I thought “Didn’t someone joker Dunlop in the DDP?”. I realized it was this guy after I looked at the list of jokers I made for the dead pool I ran. So I found it slightly amusing that the jokered Dunlop also died today. If that isn’t a coincidence, then I don’t know what is...

If I'm Irish photographer Nic Dunlop, I'm probably checking my pulse right now to ensure we don't have a Dunlop trifecta on this otherwise innocuous July 7th day.

Sad shit.

And his brother in law Mervyn Robinson!

It could get sadder, he pulled out of this years TT due to problems with his wife's pregnancy. ☹

James Cowton, a Yorkshire motorcycle racer, has died in a crash at the Southern 100.  He was 26.  Lincolnshire's Ivan Lintin also sustained critical injuries in the crash.  Cowton is the fourth recent death, following Dan Kneen, Adam Lyon and William Dunlop.

Cowton in action - I get this is a macho culture and longstanding tradition etc. But the proximity of roadside hazards (he's practically touching the grass in this shot)  and the stuff the organisers refer to as "furniture" (i.e. bollards, traffic islands etc.) is helping ensure a level of slaughter that would prompt a Cobra meeting if it was occuring as the result of terrorism.

Aye, but Robin Herd (who founded March F1 - before Ensign got going) still breathes, right

Remind me who first posted him as an immenent death a few years back.

His deadpooling stock rose last year though when OoO tipped that he was particularly poorly.

Indeed and OoO isn't greatly given to inaccuracies.

I'm just sore over my picks of Nolan and Newton John and willing the others to score for me

Niki Lauda, 69, has a lung transplant and is currently in critical condition. He has been in the hospital for more than a week.
As a late consequence of the accident Lauda had already undergone two kidney transplants in the past.

Work related stress may be a factor too

He's been looking frazzled since the back end of 1976

Doesnt seem outrageous, what’s a normal post-op stay after a lung transplant?  I’d think a week at least.

He's 69. Several weeks at least. There could be nasty complications, especially because this was an emergency transplant. How did they get a suitable lung that fast?
