Most Significant Death Of Each Month

Recommended Posts

Nah, biggest death of the month is clearly Laura Barry cause it puts Death Impends among the front runners for the DDP again...

August: Aretha Franklin/John McCain

Since August is almost over, I'm torn between these two since they were really significant in their own rights. Who was more significant in your opinion?

On a worldwide view, probably Aretha Franklin. On a personal level though, it’s Stefan Karl Stefansson...

Most months it's slim pickings.  Not August 2018.  Haven't seen this many go notables go since December 2016.  Aside from Aretha Franklin & John McCain, Kofi Annan and Neil Simon merit serious consideration.   A level down in fame, but still well known are Charlotte Rae, Jim Neidhart and, depending from which country you hail, Barry Chuckle & Stan Mikita.

A younger generation considers Stefan Karl a house hold name while both VS Naipaul and Rick Genest were respected in their fields,  so yeah, a huge month in celebrity deaths...

Since George H.W Bush died after I made my last post. Will it now be Stan Lee or George H.W. Bush?.

George Bush is a December death. I think? Either way he's the most significant death of the month he died in. Unless he's a December death and the queen dies tomorrow.

I reckon a musician will be December's spotlight.

Gonna say Meatloaf.

For 2018:

January: Jerry van Dyke or Dorothy Malone (Old Hollywood types)

February: Billy Graham

March: Stephen Hawking

April: Barbara Bush

May: Alan Bean

June: Joe Jackson (because he gave us The Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson)

July: No one  (For Norway: Thorvald Stoltenberg)(Britain: Lord Peter Carrington)

August: Tied: Kofi Annan and John McCain with the Honorable Mention of Aretha Franklin

September: Burt Reynolds

October: N. D. Tiwari

November: G. H. W. Bush and as his vice-president Stan Lee

December: Dr. Larry Roberts -  Internets founding fatter. Honorable mention: All the victims of the Sunda Strait Tsunami, especially those affliliated with the band: Seventeen.

R.I.P. I really feel Sorry for `Ifan` lost his girlfriend, 3 band members, his manager, a crew member, lots of his fans, all of the band's instruments and electronic equipment all in one fatal sweep during the tsunami. Terrible. How does one make sense of all this?

Deutsche Welle analyzed German Google search stats and apparently the biggest death of the year was the suicide/mysterious death of reality television "star" Daniel Küblböck:

Germany was pretty much spared this year.

Ken Berry hit me harder personally being a fan of Herbie Rides Again and The Cat from Outer Space.

In a year that took a Chuckle Brother, Chas (but not Dave), G-G-G-Geoffrey and Jim Bowen you couldn't be further from the truth.
