TAFKAG

President al-Assad of Syria

I imagine he'd flee to the Alawite heartland, e.g. Latakia, then on to Tehran, if not then direct to Tehran.

It appears to be the 3rd time in the last 2 days that this plane will be going back and forth from Damacus to UAE.

Assad to address the nation shortly. General Staff HQ and Air Force Command in Damascus have been evacuated.

He'll earn my upmost respect if he comes up saying "We're fucked" and immediately leaves.

It'll be interesting to see what'll happen with all the Axis of Resistance leaders who've resided in Syria. Jamil Mezher, Nayef Hawatmeh, Ziyad al-Nakhalah and others. Will they manage to evacuate to Iran, have they already, what will happen to them if caught?

Will he be addressing them from Damascus or elsewhere.

There is video of Assad forces abandoning their posts on Fayez Mansour which is only 1.6km south of the Presidential Palace in Damascus, so unless this is a pre-recorded message my money is on the latter.

No way has Trump himself written the message he has posted on Twitter about Syria. Good ghostwriter thriugh to get it fairly into his style.

He dictates his tweets, and his Human Printer dollybird writes them.

He doesn't want to have the USA involved - which nobody is asking for anyway?

Also an interesting spin that he says Russia is only in Syria to make Obama look foolish - forgetting that they have been there for a looong time.

Haven't seen any address from him and now various reports are he has actually fled (there have been some flight movements in the area of interest).

What happens after Assad potentially gets the Mussolini treatment will be even more interesting that the event itself. Syrian really can't let itself fall into the situation Libya had to suffer after the death of Gaddafi.

Looks more and more like he has fled to Teheran and is negotiating a quite exile.

Rebels have started entering Homs, from the North and East according to Reuters. Syrian Regime claims Assad remains in Damascus. If that is the case, I suspect his corpse will be paraded through the streets by next weekend, as his window of escape is narrowing.

Syrian Rebels claim to be at the suburbs of Damascus.

Ahmed Al-Dalati, a leader in the Rebels' Military Operations Department, claims full control on all axes surrounding the city of Homs, this adds up to the reports that government forces withdrew from the city.

Report here that Assad has hours before the military start to take control of the situation. WSJ reports that Assad nowhere to be found and as previously noted he missed his expected address to the nation.

He’s been trying through back channels with the USA to cut a deal to ditch Hezbollah and Iran if Western powers back his regime. Desperate last pleas.

If he remains in Syria, which I think at this point is extremely unlikely, then he’s as good as dead. Turbulent times for Syria ahead.

The rebels have just taken Al-Qusayr which means the last proper road between Damascus and the coast has been captured. Question still remains if he will risk it all and try to flee using the international airport, in the very unlikely situation that he did remain in Damascus.

He'll be fine. He's going to live in exile in Iran or Russia. I just fear for the Syrian people. Assad is horrible and it's hard not to celebrate his collapse, but who knows what will take power with this power vacuum.

Lots of reports that Assad has indeed fled Damascus, with the capital set to fall imminently.

The fall of the Assad regime will be a geopolitical disaster.

His plane apparently descended at a rapid pace after doing a u-turn near Homs. Either it was shot down or he landed at a remote air strip near the coast to get on a boat to Russia.

Assad regime is over

Pretty clear now he has fled or his corpse would already be paraded around.
