CarolAnn 926 Posted January 1, 2009 Happy New Year everybody. I always stay home this eve, as it's amateur night and amateurs scare the crap outta me. Got several bottles of Chateau Palmer and a very nice bottle of the Irish. Will crack a bottle of the bubbly at midnight, but then it's back to the good stuff for me. I have a couple cases of Croft port from my birth year (a gift from the proprietor) and that's my adios 2008 toast. Gonna be one helluva hangover tomorrow. OK, OK - I can't resist, but after this I'll be good. Promise. Yup. Well, sorta. If it's from your birth year, Harry, hasn't it turned to stone yet? i think the dogs ran off with my coat.... CarolAnn 926 Posted January 1, 2009 It's 2AM, my mother has crashed on the couch, all six dogs and two cats are snoring, my son and his friend are playing Left for Dead on XBOX Live, my husband is in his office doing whatever he does in there and I'm watching a show on medieval torture devices on the Discovery Channel. Some things never change. Happy New Year.

Lard Bazaar 3,799 Posted January 1, 2009 Gosh, I've got a little bit of a headache. My New Year's Eve descended into an episode of Shameless at about 4 this morning, no need for a long story, however it involved sibling rivalry, two out of three emergency services, a black eye, a split lip and one member of the family currently sat in the local police custody suite, awaiting legal representation - I, however, am cosily tucked up in bed with a pepsi - Happy New Year everybody! Dia de los Muertos 7 Posted January 2, 2009 Happy New Year! I am still trying to recover from the New Year's Eve celebrations.... this morning at 8:30 I could have sworn it was 8:30PM... though not sure if yesterday or today... oh well. Had a fantastic time watching the fireworks at the London Eye... I think I will start going there every year.

Magere Hein 1,400 Posted December 31, 2009 Happy New Year to all. Yes, happy New Year, all. If only we knew what Father Time has in mind. I know! I know! War in Afghanistan goes on Dutch troops remain in war in Afghanistan, contrary to what most Dutch politicians say now Several nasty natural disasters Several thousands die in terrorist attacks in Iraq and Pakistan Civil liberties and respect of privacy of EU citizens will further decline The European Parliament will remain a Mickey-Mouse-parliament Brazil will win the World Cup O'Bama (he is Irish, isn't he?) will not be murdered The Dutch will win 4 gold, 3 silver a 3 bronze medals in the Winter Olympics regards, Hein
Windsor 2,233 Posted December 31, 2009 Happy New Year to all of you. Personally I don't understand why people feel the need to celebrate a new year. It is likley that 2010 will be just as shit as 2009, 2008, 2007 etc etc. What does 2010 have in store? Gordon Brown will win the General Election. Alex Salmond's independence referendum will fail to get through the Scottish Parliament. Boris Johnson will become leader of the Conservative Party. Joanna Lumley will get a Damehood in the Queen's Birthday honours list. We will edge closer to a war with Iran (after the election). I won't win the DDP. Lady Grendel 139 Posted January 1, 2010 Happy new year all. Now, where's the asprin. Hangover time, and WTF am I doing up at this time in the morning? Morning exists on 1st Jan? I think I surfaced about 11 a.m. briefly and then went back to bed until about 3 p.m. Oh how I envy my youth when the partying started about 8 p.m. on Hogmanay and continued right through until 2nd Jan.... My brother has just spent his first Xmas/New Year in Tasmania, he's just phoned and told us they had a spectacular lightning storm at midnight on Hogmanay that accompanied the fireworks being set off over Hobart, this link is pretty much what they saw from the balcony of their house. I liked it, one of the few reasons that might make me visit Australia eventually. P.S. Happy New Year to all .

Ah well. 2/6 isn't all that bad - especially when you consider that I failed to predict the amout of shite that came my way in 2010! Anyway - predictions for 2011. The Lib Dems will lose the Electoral Reform vote. The coalition will fall apart shortly afterwards. Labour will be returned as the largest party in the 2011 Holyrood elections. Bruce Forsyth and Simon Cowell will be knighted. There will be war of some description in North Korea. I won't win the DDP. All the best to one and all for 2011.
