To complement the venerable British science fiction series thread, let's look at some non-Star bloody Trek American shows.

Flash Gordon

All of the main actors from the 1930s serials are long gone, the last being Jean Rogers (Dale Arden) back in 1991. Likewise, the actors from the 1950s television show and the much-loved 1979 Filmation animated versions all seem to be gone, which leaves us with the notorious 1980 film...

Survivors are:

Peter Wyngarde (Klytus) born 1928

Max von Sydow (Ming the Merciless) born 1929

Topol (Dr Zarkov) born 1935

Brian Blessed (Vultan) 1936

Timothy Dalton (Barin) 1944

Sam Jones (Flash) 1954

Melody Anderson (Dale Arden) 1955

Ornella Muti (Princess Aura) 1955

Mariangela Melato (Kara) died back on January 11th this year, it seems.

Buck Rogers

Likewise no survivor from the 1930s serial, the last main cast member, Constance Moore, dying in 2005. Again, there was apparently a short-lived television show in the 1950s, featuring none other than:

Eva Marie Saint (Wilma Deering) born 1924

Of the well-known 1979 series, the following are still alive:

Michael Ansara (Kane) born 1922

Tim O'Connor (Dr Heuer) born 1927

Henry Silva (also played Kane) 1928

Felix Silla (Tweekie [and Cousin Itt on the Addams Family!]) 1937

Thom Christopher (Hawk) 1940

Gil Gerard (Buck) 1943

Eric Server (Dr Theopolis) 1944

Erin Gray (Wilma) 1950

Pamela Hensley (Aura) 1950

Battlestar Galactica (the original, not that new-fangled stuff)

Lorne Green is obviously long gone but nearly all the rest of the very extensive cast are still alive. I won't list them all here as they were a fairly young cast being nearly all born in the 1950s but the oldest survivor is:

Terry Carter (Tigh) 1928

Dead.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_O'Connor_(actor)

I can't say I'll be mourning him. He was probably the worst adult actor to appear in a M*A*S*H episode.

I came across an old show called One Step Beyond (*cue sax*) which ran from 1959-61. Each of the episodes follows someone who is in a haunted place/dealing with ghosts/aliens/creepy paranormal stuff. It was an anthology series and therefore had a total of 670 actors (including the creator and narrator, John Newland).

531 out of 670 of them are known to have died. The remaining cast members are all aged 64-100 and some are very famous. Here they are:

Additionally, 17 of 96 episodes have an entirely dead cast. They are:

Ep11 "The Devil's Laughter"

Ep18 "Image of Death

Ep20 "Echo"

Ep22 "The Riddle"

Ep25 "Brainwave"

Ep28 "The Inheritance"

Ep30 "Message from Clara"

Ep34 "The Stone Cutter"

Ep38 "The Justice Tree"

Ep44 "The Lovers"

Ep46 "The Mask"

Ep62 "Anniversary of a Murder"

Ep69 "The Voice"

Ep72 "Where Are They?"

Ep87 "The Confession"

Some of the remaining episodes have only one remaining cast member who is aged 90+. I'll update this list every time someone dies (or if any more details surface about the obscure people).

It's not quite Twilight Zone, but One Step Beyond is quite good for its age, actually.

Below is my "Top 15" of sci-fi/horror film people well-known enough to receive obits in both the US and UK with possibly one or two exceptions.

*snip*

Beverly Owen (79); the original Marilyn Munster on The Munsters.

*snip*

I considered a few others, but these seem enough for one or two successes during the year. Hedren is still active although showing her age rather badly. McCallum is also active, but into his 80's, people - anyone recall his short-lived 1975 US TV series of The Invisible Man? Owen might get an obit in the UK due to the continuing popularity of The Munsters and its various remakes, etc., over the years.Hansen is perhaps a little iffy, but is well-known enough for his "soaps" work to possibly make the Uk obituaries. The rest should have no problem gaining considerable media attention.

Obituary. The Munsters original cast is very reduced:

1)Pat Priest (1936): the second Marilyn Munster, diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2001, now in remission.

2)Butch Patrick (1953): Eddie Munster, convicted robber, drug user, frequently tried to commit suicide. Diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2011, but claimed he would live another 20 years.
