Born the same day as hardline Chinese Immortal Yang You.

That was quite an unfair challenge.

Or he does not, since his day of birth is in fact October 1st. He was falsely cited as born on September 22nd in a passport in 1945 and kept that date. Maybe he wanted to celebrate earlier.

Crossing my fingers that he stands for ten days more, since this would be the second time in history to have two centenarian Nobel laureates alive at the same time. (From December 2010 to December 2012 that were Rita Levi-Montalcini and Ronald Coase, the first two Nobel laureates who turned 100.)

And he would be the fifth centenarian Nobel laureate ever, following Levi-Montalcini, Coase, Ed Fischer and John B. Goodenough. Gee, Kissinger or Carter have to keep on to have at least one Peace Prize laureate on that list!:salute:

Weirdly, there's a lot of more or less similar cases in old Chinese people. For example Wan Haifeng was born on the 15th of September 1920 according to his Chinese wiki, English wiki says 22nd of September. Baike says "September 1920", could be that he's known to have been born in September 1920 but his exact birthdate isn't known. What is known however is that he joined the Red Army in 1933.

I'm at this point very amazed by Chen-Ning's and Tsung-Dao Lee's longevity. They're still alive 65 years after receiving a Nobel price with a  combined age of nearly 196 years.

They are Chinese, they simply are not mortal.

Seems so. Shi Ping is 109, Zhang Lixiong and Tu Tongjin are 108 (Lixiong was on an ng tube a year ago, Tongjin is bedbound in hospital), Ma Shitu is 107, Isabel Crook and Jian Xianfo are 106, Maeda Mitsushiro and Song Ping are 105. And there are around 20 younger ones. Yang Yongsong is the only one who has died in recent months. I'm waiting for them to die in masses and have waited for a while now but that time never seems to come

In the UK it is estimated there are around 170 people aged over 107 with 2 women aged over 113 at the top. However only around 110 appear to be on the list of the site devoted to this subject so it may be wrong to assume that there are up to 60 whose names are not known. It would be interesting to compare the percentages of countries such as China & Japan with the UK to see which has the most 107+ aged citizens.

Last photo of Doreen's 100th birthday, she looks so frail and now with a wheelchair.

May be an image of 2 people, people sitting, people standing and indoor
