Butler Martin, a WW2 veteran who like Eaglin was among the first Black Marines, has died on 27 September aged 101.

The article tells us that, at the end of 2023, there were 300 Black Marines www2 veterans who are still alive.

This other article written in March 2014, however, says there 400 survivors out of 20.000.

Updated with all the suggestions given to me. That's a pretty long list. I didn't think there were nearly as many living centenarians with acting credits.

Updated this list for the deaths of June Spencer and Nadia Cattouse. I've also removed Saul Brandt as it looks like he died in 1998!

They don't really seem to be in any rush to die... then again, it's 2024.

Eileen Bennett is now the last living British actor born in the decade of the 1910s.

Fucking blows my mind that Woody Woodbury is still going, I remember him being used as a "how is this guy not dead?" punchline 15 years ago.

I wonder what happened to Finnish actor Veikko Salmi. He was still alive when his wife Hellin Auvinen-Salmi (1911-1997) died and if alive he turned 100 last month, but I can't find anything on him since the 90s. Not in any way as big of a name as his wife, so might've died off-radar.

Just 7 days after her 110th.

I did wonder why there was no birthday interview given how active she had been in recent years. Being a supercentenarian ain't for everyone.

With the death of Norman Spencer 5 "notable" women remain from 1914. I'd say Muazzez Cig is on another level of notability with respect to the others.

All of them seem to be doing very well, but how long before they are all wiped out as it Is the good and right thing?

*Viola Fletcher , Tulsa massacre survivor and activist, wheelchair bound but no health issues.

*Anne Baker , British writer and fundraiser. Frail, but not too much.

*Muazzez Ilmiye Cig , Turkish sumerologist, doing unexplicably well despite being overweight for decades.

*Edith Renfrow Smith , survived serious COVID hospitalization some years ago, able to walk unaided and sound of mind.

*Eileen Kramer , unsinkable until some time ago, has visibly declined in recent years, but still posting regularly on IG and apparently doing well.

Muazzez Ilmiye Cig repoirtedly dead all over the MuskX:

Down to three from 1914.

Renfrow Smith is in very good health . Fletcher has recently voted and saw no decline during the last two years.

Baker seems destined to be the next death as she is increasingly frail.

Agree Renfrow Smith looks the best.

Not sure how you drew the disparity between Fletcher and Baker. They both looked okay in their last known pictures I would say, both verging on "slightly" frail.

Four, if you're willing to count Fletcher's fellow Tulsa Massacre survivor Lessie Randle.

Randle turned 110 last week and doesn't look too bad.

Just three left from 1916: Geneviève Callerot, Kathe Menzel-Jordan and Violet Hensley.

Callerot was described as frail and wheelchair bound at her 108th birthday, but she is still there mentally. Menzel-Jordan has not appeared in public for a while to my knowledge. Hensley was on oxygen at her 108th birthday. IMHO all gone by 2026.
