Deathray 2,940 Posted April 28, 2014 And Jack Ramsay provides a 117 point boost for CaptainChorizo and Death Impends. This opens up a big gulf between 3rd and 4th place, are the main pack beginning to pull away or is our winner biding their time... Death Impends 7,957 Posted April 29, 2014 My folk in this pool sure are carking at an admirable rate, even if a bit earlier than desired. Also realized just now that I also had Fred Ho on my list, who died back on the 12th http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/13/arts/music/fred-ho-56-composer-and-radical-activist-dies.html
Deathray 2,940 Posted May 5, 2014 Apparently some people died, I'll give a OP update later but scores on the doors are now; 102 for Fred Ho to Death impends 121 for Efram Zimbalist Jr for CaptainChorizo + The Unknown Man Table; Death Impends 434 points Captain Chorizo 410 points the_engineer 297 points The Unknown Man 131 points Rotten Ali 123 points Estuarian Float 87 points US Funeral Director 10 points maryportfuncity 7 points Toast 4 points Everyone Else 0 points
Deathray 2,940 Posted May 8, 2014 A bit of shift at the lower end of the table as Toast and Rotten Ali gain 126 points on the news that Katherine Crowe has tragically passed on. Deathray 2,940 Posted May 18, 2014 First wildcard checks out as Wubbo Ockel launches into the unknown space one last time giving Death Impends some clear daylight from the rest of the field... Deathray 2,940 Posted June 9, 2014 Alexander Imichs sad passing gives Captain Chorizo a points boost of 159 points. Also some embarassment for msc, whoam and book who become members of the half-year-nil-pwa club however it's still theoretically possible to win the competition with a single hit.. Deathray 2,940 Posted June 13, 2014 Book ans Whoam both grab some much needed points and leapfrog the bottom of half of the table- (leaving msc trailing behind and until next year winner of the record for longest period of no points in a Hare's Death Pool; let's see if he can consolidate that record in the coming months) at the back of the field following the sad death of Carla Laemmle, a true icon of film's silent era. (thankfully, there not hindered by the lack of UK obit like me in my DDP team, come on Guardian/Telegraph....). Anyway scores on the doors are: Death Impends 708 points Captain Chorizo 569 points Rotten Ali 393 points the_engineer 297 points The Unknown Man 275 points Book 163 points Whoam 163 points US Funeral Director 154 points maryportfuncity 151 points Toast 130 points Estuarian Float 87 points msc 0 points

Deathray 2,940 Posted July 7, 2014 Reet, I'm in. Had some agonising over this one. I mean, do you go for the perenniel hangers on like Run Run Shaw or pack the team with nailed-on death (like Wilko Johnson) on the basis of assuring some points. Just PM'd yers with the 20, let battle commence. What were you saying? Also, I can't see any deaths but if you've got a goner let us know.
maryportfuncity 10,642 Posted July 8, 2014 Reet, I'm in. Eh? Everyone's goners are ably recorded on post #38 hereabouts and the scoreboard keeps tab of the points total, other than making the same mistake with Wilko as loads of people (i.e. reckoned he was going to die soon because he admitted to terminal illness, was spurning treatment and talking openly about the intensity of every day whilst living under that double whammy) what did I do to cause mirth? This dead pool is a genuine test of the same old skills in a different format, so the conundrum above does count for summat. They have to die to count and you're trying to second guess the battlers who'll grimly hang on. It is ironic, surely, that a lot of those who looked the most nailed-on early scorers - Billy Graham etc. - might well turn into Hare's Dead Pool gold and prove less useful to HPDP and Deathrace entrants. Deathray 2,940 Posted July 8, 2014 ^It was meant to be a joke as in "he's not so nailed on now". Should've employed a suitable post lightening smiley. The any goners comment was meant as an aside, i.e since the last update I haven't seen anybody die, I do know where the goners are recorded as I've been the one recording them for 6 months. :deathban: Dear Hares Death Pool Picks (in the unlikely event any of you are reading this), you are now subject to a deathban as I'm unable to update this until next Monday. Obey it you evil little picks, I know what you're like when the cats away, you'll all die in horrible accidents and leave me loads of updating to do. Don't.
