Also after the admins of We Love Bracknell (45k members) facebok group goes begging for people to vote Labour for the last month...Bracknell Forest gets a majority Labour council. Also how the fuck did Labour lose Slough? It's usually a safe bet. Council went bust last year. Lots of criticism of financial mismanagement. Very much a local issue, rather than a national picture. Same as the tree-killing Tories getting hammered in Plymouth.

TQR 14,396 Posted May 15, 2023 A Tory MP (lets anagramise their name; Denser Nail World) who is on bail after their arrest last year for rape, sexual assault, indecent assault and other similar charges and hasn’t been seen in parliament for over a year, has been given the go-ahead to stand for re-election in their constituency. RoverAndOut 4,746 Posted May 15, 2023 Can you fucking believe their gall? Rees-Mogg tells nutjob Conservative conference that Voter ID was an attempt to fix the vote but it backfired as elderly Tories couldn't vote and they should have left it as it was. They're not even pretending any more, they just take us for fools. Quote He told delegates Labour's idea was "particularly silly," adding: "Parties that try and gerrymander end up finding that their clever scheme comes back to bite them, as dare I say we found by insisting on voter ID for elections. "We found the people who didn't have ID were elderly and they by and large voted Conservative, so we made it hard for our own voters and we upset a system that worked perfectly well. "It was done on trust, and the system worked. If there's any problem in our system, it's with postal votes, which don't require voter ID." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-65599380

A fairly easy decision I imagine when your career's in the toilet and your tiny majority is going to vanish into thin air. Shame not to see him get his arse handed to him on election night, though. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-65678955

YoungWillz 21,046 Posted May 24, 2023 Just caught up with PMQs. Paul Bristow, Tory MP for Peterborough kicked out. After the kicking taken by the Conservatives, at least three questions from their side related to complaints about how councils controlled by other parties were operating. Security Risk Suella sitting next to PM, doing her best nodding dog impression now her job is secure. With food inflation at a relative 19% (much higher for certain basic items), Sunak's response is we've had a talk with the food suppliers "to see what they can do". Still happy for the taxpayer to foot Boris' legal fees for highest quality legal representation. Gawd, it's a tawdry watch.
RoverAndOut 4,746 Posted May 24, 2023 Not sure this has ever been mentioned in these here parts, but I've come across it on Twitter. Back in the year 2000, the President of the Cambridge University Conservative Association, one Suella Fernandes, faced accusations of attempted vote rigging by offering to pay for membership of the association to close friends so they could vote for her. When challenged by the student newspaper, she denied the allegations as "completely untrue" then following a long pause added, "You can't prove anything." Honestly, you can't make this stuff up. What an absolute charlatan. To have been appointed Attorney General was a joke. To be appointed Home Secretary TWICE (once after resigning for breaking the ministerial code 2 days earlier) is an abomination. 1

RoverAndOut 4,746 Posted May 24, 2023 I hope one of these gatherings referred to the police is the fucking Abba Party in the Downing Street flat, because as far as I can tell neither the police nor Sue Gray have ever investigated it in any detail, and the BoJo apologists have always fobbed it off as being fully investigated and no charges brought. Which is (shock horror) a blatant lie.
