RoverAndOut 4,746 Posted April 14 No doubt an inspiring tale of pulling herself up by her bootstraps to buy a pokey little terraced house, not a tale of how her lucrative media career and lack of dependents have allowed her buy a nice country pad for herself. These Gen X and Gen Z moaners just need to pull their finger out!

They send you an email when it's available, and you collect it from the reservation shelf Out of interest I looked it up on my county library website, and they have 2 copies on order, with one reservation so far. 1
RoverAndOut 4,746 Posted April 15 Donald Trump supporter (woman) on the 6 O'Clock news saying if he's put in jail, millions of people will grab their guns and we'll have a civil war. Genuinely got to the stage where I said out loud "go right ahead love, we'll kill every fucking one of you". Sick to the back teeth of his bullshit and how people will work against their own self interests to enable him. It's a total messiah complex and it's not just dangerous it's insane. (Oh, and no, I'm not American, so I can't take part in a civil war, but would it really remain civil in that situation?)

The man is a narcissistic, over privileged, porn-star banging adulterer, very probable rapist, state secret ignoring, prick of the highest order. The only thing that slows down my disbelief that anyone at all could vote for him originally let alone a second time ... is ... well ... Boris. No he's obviously not as bad, but we're in a small garden greenhouse with a pile of stones here even if it's not quite the original crystal palace. Also, US gun laws, or lack thereof, make any such actions far more dangerous there than here or many other places. The world has gone quite quite mad.
RoverAndOut 4,746 Posted April 15 Number 10 Eid Celebrations Plan 1. Announce annual Eid Celebration reception at Downing Street. 2. Hear that several people and groups are planning to boycott reception due to response to Gaza. 3. Get Lord Cameron to insist people should go and engage with the government. 4. Talk about how much you're looking forward to hosting the reception and discussing the issues. 5. Wimp out of attending your own half-attended Eid reception claiming "business in parliament" made it impossible, making mugs of those prepared to meet you halfway. Rishi Sunak everybody! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-68818484

Just let them die in the fringe. He really didn't have that many protestors as anticipated with the mug shot in Atlanta or his other trials.

That's like being invited to a party at Adele's house and the host turns out to be Amanda Holden. 1
Commtech Sio Bibble 2,030 Posted April 16 With the local elections fast approaching, this morning a leaflet was delivered to my door outlining all the candidate's pledges and the such, most of it was pretty standard stuff but the penultimate candidate was an independent who had 3 top priority pledges one of which was to stop any further lockdowns. Firstly it's 2024 I genuinely don't think I've heard the word lockdown in at least a year, it's hardly a relevant issue and secondly does a mayor even have the power to do that. Reading the rest of his manifesto he's just nicked a lot of the Reform party's ideas, so I assume he's either delusional and thinks that we are still at the height of the pandemic or is trying to get the votes of those delusional conspiracy brain nutjobs, or possibly a combination of the two.

TQR 14,387 Posted April 16 The Tories have been referred to the CPS for the lies their mayoral candidate Susan Hall is spreading. Her team have been slapping these things (below) on cars which claim that Sadiq Khan is planning a pay-per-mile scheme, something he has unequivocally and repeatedly ruled out.

We'll see what happens and I don't deny it may be hard to enforce, but from a personal standpoint, I couldn't care less. I've never smoked a cigarette in my life and was part of the first generation of uni students where smoking was banned in public places. It's becoming a thing of the past, and this will, presumably, further that objective. Vapes are the bigger issue now and God knows where that goes. Is it hypocritical? Probably. But I'm not fussed. Plus Liz Truss is speaking up in opposition of this, so I know I'm on the right side of it.

The Old Crem 3,583 Posted April 16 I bet we wouldn’t get this reaction if it was a Christian student who had lost a court case. Also how long till she is made a Baroness. Feels inevitable.
