Nor does anyone except Mr Doom and Gloom pessimist is my middle name.

I dread to think what he's going to be like this afternoon. I expect a series of posts about why everything in the budget is bad news for everyone. I don't doubt that there will be bad news in the budget, because that's the way of things, but there is no need to spin it into the end of the world is nigh.

Doesn’t seem anything in the budget to cause a significant unexpected anger as they was nothing negative that was a surprise. .

Tories and Lib Dem’s seem to think Inheritance Tas changes relating to family farms could be the main U turn at some point particularly as their saying the Environmental secretary tried to stop its inclusion.

Just a guess, this thread went quiet the second the potential posters realised pub beer is going down in price!

Seems to have gone down relatively well, despite the doom mongering of the past month plus. Lots of talk about growth being sluggish until 2032 although the measures should start to bear fruit by then - good! This country needs to stop with the short-termism. We need long-term investment all over the place - in terms of people, time AND money. If Labour start delivering some of that, then it's a start.

Election in 2029 so Labour will need to be seen by enough voters  as having improved the country to win a majority again I suspect. .

Why? The Tories made it progressively worse over 14 years and won 4 General elections.

But most of their voters didn’t see it as them doing so: It is not what is objectively true that counts but what 35% or so of voters think.

Kemi Badenoch is the new Tory party leader. Will she become PM in 2029. I estimate she has about 30% chance.

I'd be surprised if she's still leader by 2029. I'd be less surprised if she joined reform before then.

Sounds to me like the next PM will be a Liberal.

I don’t see her joining Reform. She has some core differences with them.

And the Tories now require 40 MP’s to want a Vote of No Confidence, Plus polls will likely remain close all the way to the election I suspect.

Trying to work out if Badenough winning is a good thing or a bad thing when the alternative was little Hitler Robert Jenrick. It suggests the Tory membership are perhaps less inclined to want close partnership with Farage and Reform and perhaps don't see leaving the EHRC as a key concern, both of which were big parts of Jenrick's pitch. Doubtless there'll be plenty of Tories crowing about how in the past 40 years the Tories have elected 4 female leaders to Labour's 0, ignoring that 3 of them were Theresa May, Liz Clusterfuck and now the Kemical toilet.

Priti Patel as shadow foreign secretary! :facepalm:They just don't get it do they?

A woman sacked for lobbying the Israeli government whilst supposedly on holiday. And Jenrick back in Justice. They're just as shit as they were before the election. Not a chance they win in 2028/29, I'd give Farage more chance.
