I didn't put Harry Patch in on those grounds but it does look like I'm the only one that hasn't got Lou Rawls in. :banghead:

Well bugger me!!!!!!!!! I haven't got him in my list either.

I reckon the average age of my selection must be one of the highest at,

96.5 years old.

I stuck as many cancer suffers as I could on my list.

Cancer just isn't the guaranteed killer that it once used to be,

damned medical advances now mean more people recover or live longer with it.

Could be true in the means of Harold Pinter but a comment like that would be

off - the wall if you said it to Lou Rawls.. :banghead:

I never put him on either.

I had never heard of him before he got cancer. I don't even know what he does.

I've tried to pick those who appear to be riddled with cancer but try not to get excited about prostate or breast cancer or anything prefixed "benign" so Liz taylor stays out. Also left out WW1 vets and Lou Rawls because I didn't know who he was but accept he's famous enough. I should have added Longthorne but left him out too since he's so unfamous he wouldn't even get on one of those crappy celebrity shows even if he was well. You have to be able to hold your head up with these lists. There are no grub eaters among my choices. Sadly can't remember my list until the DDP goes up.

He used to, but probably wouldn't at the moment.

Am I the only person NOT to have Henry Allingham in the line up?

Didn't put him up either, nor Harry Patch.

I prefer shaved.

The DDP will have sent you an email confirming your entry, this will contain your list.

OK I accept Ross Davidson is hardly Laurence Olivier and that Brooke Astor and Lady Bird Johnson are only there for the ride but the rest are pretty cast iron for half a page in the Telegraph

I'm willing to bet an awful lot of people have Davidson as their joker. Simply because he's a dead cert and he's not over 80.

I must admit to thinking he was under 50 myself, though. :D

The list from Death Stalks Utd reads as follows:

Patrick Moore

Pete Doherty

Michael Foot

Kirk Douglas

Margaret Thatcher

Holly Johnson

Norman Wisdom

Brad Pitt (Joker)

Ronnie Biggs

Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Vera Lynn

Peter O'Toole

Boris Yeltsin

Ian Brady

Clive Dunn

Henry Kissinger

Micky Rooney

Eric Sykes

Peter Sallis

Leslie Phillips

I'll be laughing like a drain if Brad Pitt cops it. . The advantage of death is that it can be sudden and unexpected.

Do you think Angelina Jolie is going to bonk him to death?

That's how I'd want to go.

Well, I think it's ridiculous having Ross Davidson as a joker.

Anyway, here's my team: Slave to the Grave:

1) Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

2) Eve Arnold

3) Brooke Astor

4) Charles Aznavour

5) P. W. Botha

6) Ross Davidson (JOKER)

7) Phil Drabble

8) Gerald Ford

9) Glenn Ford

10) Rev Billy Graham

11) Larry Hagman

12) Lady Bird Johnson

13) Courtney Love

14) Bernard Manning

15) Augusto Pinochet

16) Harold Pinter

17) John Profumo

18) Lou Rawls

19) Henri Salvador

20) Kurt Waldheim

It's nice to see someone else (Off with his Head) has picked Phil Drabble. Perhaps OWHH has some up to date info about his current condition. In particular, is he still alive?

Team members:

1) Clarissa Churchill (second wife of Anthony Eden)

I don't suppose you saw the TV programme presented by Cherie Blair (Booth?) about the surviving PMs other halves did you? It was shown just before Christmas. Only 4 remain if I remember correctly: Cherie, Norma Major, Clarissa Churchill and someone who completely escapes me - help anyone?

Anyway, all were interviewed and your Clarissa seemed to be doing OK.

There, that should do it for her!

Thank goodness you picked Pinter as your joker MH, I was afraid that I had been left out on some vital information.

Yes I did see it. In my opinion, she looked a little ropey, hence the inclusion.

Well, the DDP 2006 website is up.

I'm a bit miffed that my two chess players aren't unique picks, but my hopes are high that my team will improve on the eight hits it had in 2005.

Good luck to all DL members with a team.

regards,

Hein

I was a bit pissed off too! You cancelled me out, I thought no-one else would come up with them either. This is my first year of entry after not getting my act together last year. I did managed three unique picks including two I thought looked a bit dodgy during last year and one that I only fear might come true. I'd have had five unique picks with Bronstein and Smyslov.
