Tempus Fugit 214 Posted January 14, 2006 That's all set to change in 3 days..... Go on then. How? Clarence Ray Allen is due to be executed on the 17th, He's Octopus of Odstock's Joker. Still only give him 10 points though, providing the UK obit is forthcoming.
Octopus of Odstock 2,197 Posted January 14, 2006 That's all set to change in 3 days..... Go on then. How? When a certain Mr. Allen gets executed. (BBC & The Guardian should cover it, considering the past few days) The Doffin' Codgers already have 10 points from Lou Rawls, so by my calculations that will put them on 15, one ahead of Pussycat Dolls Tempus Fugit, I had taken Shelley Winter's death into consideration here & wasn't talking about myself. Canadian Paul 97 Posted January 16, 2006 Providing the UK obit is forthcoming. That looks to be a real consideration in 2006. Keizo Miura never got an obit, did he?
Octopus of Odstock 2,197 Posted January 16, 2006 Providing the UK obit is forthcoming. That looks to be a real consideration in 2006. Keizo Miura never got an obit, did he? It will be, yes. With Clarence Ray Allen, it's playing on the rule on the DDP Rules Page: "Obituary" simply means an article which mentions the fact that the person has died. It doesn't have to be the conventional biographical write-up. So if any newspaper or BBC say he was executed, ergo, he's in. But for others, yes, it will be a test. The last two years have seen some I'd thought would never get even an article on a UK site, but as Torres last year & almost certainly Miura this year prove, it's a risk you have to weigh up. Miura didn't get a mention in any US Paper either - the only two english language papers that mentioned his death were both English Editions of Japanese Papers, so unless he pops up in "Lives In Brief" in the next week or so, then it doesn't look like he's going to get a obit. Banshees Scream 110 Posted January 16, 2006 Tempus Fugit, I had taken Shelley Winter's death into consideration here & wasn't talking about myself. It's humorous how Temp seems to misunderstand. Unless Octopus of Odstock some - how resembles 85 year old Shelly Winters.

football_fan 42 Posted January 17, 2006 and sure enough, the BBC covered the execution, so DDP has a new leader... It'll be the Doffin Codgers won't it? Doffin Codgers will be in a narrow first place lead with 15 points over Faster, Pussycat, Kill, Kill, Kill!, who is on 14 points.

He seems a little too humble for that. Or maybe he's just been saving it.
Octopus of Odstock 2,197 Posted January 17, 2006 I didn't pick Lou Rawls so I can hardly boast. In fact, I'm just relieved I've got off the mark... Let's hope it's not my only hit

Godot 149 Posted January 21, 2006 Wait, Rugova's dead? I had him on my DDP. Oh well. At least I have one hit. His death gives me my 2nd hit on the 2006 ddp. I had him in my cancer ward for the Hartlepool deadlypool but kept him out of the DDP. Just goes to show you can't beat the old big C when it starts travelling. Octopus of Odstock 2,197 Posted January 21, 2006 Sheesh.. another one I can't believe I left off the DDP list. I think my thinking was "he's having treatment, maybe he'll be alright if he's not going to quit". Ah well. Certainly an impressive start by FP, KKK! but he/she has got some very obscure people in their list, which, like Miura, might not get an obit. But interesting anyway. I bet you wish you'd put Lou ahead of Wendy in the HDP. Still a fantastic start for you ff.
