Sir Creep 7,070 Posted April 7, 2017 Steve Howe of Yes is 70 today....putting him squarely in the Reaper's wheelhouse if recent rock n rollers are any indication. Granted, Howe has looked like death warmed over for 20 years. SC

Weebl 216 Posted April 17, 2017 Allan Holdsworth, the greatest guitarist no one's ever heard of, dead at 70: http://ultimateclassicrock.com/guitar-pioneer-allan-holdsworth-dies/ http://teamrock.com/news/2017-04-16/allan-holdsworth-dead-at-70 No mentions of his death that I can see in mainstream news media, only on specialist music magazines and sites. But of course, he's not got "mass pop appeal" so he doesn't matter, right? The man was an absolute guitar genius. The bands that he's played in read like a who's who of 70s avant-prog - Soft Machine, Gong, Bruford, U.K., Nucleus, Tempest ... Could have sworn he was a member of National Health and If as well but apparently not! Will leave you with this video showcasing his excellent guitar playing!

maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted September 7, 2017 And in other news, Yes (or what passes for the legendary band these days) are doing a 50th anniversary tour next year. Ironically, I'm likely to miss their big London date because I'm otherwise engaged at a dead pooling convention

SC Unfortunately! To lose John Wetton, Allan Holdsworth and Jaki Liebezeit and Holger Czukay this year has made 2017 every bit as bad as 2016. But to lose all these ageing prog musicians is hardly unexpected to be honest. What's been more surprising has been the deaths of guys like Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington... Aye, I caught the three albums back to back on one night tour; Chris Squire still striding about and bossing the whole show. Not sure they'll ever touch that standard without him

Well, I don’t think he’s in remission (unless you have some deep inside info I didn’t know about), but he’s been doing a lot of public appearances recently that probably makes him safe for the next few months. Although I still put him in my April squad, though the lineup intention is to be quite wild anyways...

The "six months to live" bit comes from August 2016 and he got better (obv, still breathing!) enough to film stuff since. Course he could have got worse after, but then we get into double bluff/triple bluff/overthinking this shit territory.

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted April 10, 2018 Actually Rick Davies is one of my picks in my home DL. First timer. In the world of cancer, no news is bad news, and he hasn't been heard from one peep since cancelling the tour.
Joey Russ 7,227 Posted April 10, 2018 Actually, I've noticed that while there was a Rick Davies update in 2016 of cancer being cleared, there has been no Supertramp update since the cancellation of their European tour. Interesting. Personally, I don't think he's on the clock yet, but I have a gut feeling that he won't be here in five years time...
