Sir Creep crawls to third on 1080 points.

This is the copious counting carnage we love, right?

Anyone looked in on Joey Feek today?

There was another life sign of dancer Alice Barker in late 2015, can't believe she's still alive:

Ah, the competition is too strong. Too many good picks in other teams. She might die in February but the game might be over before that.

Jānis Vaišļa died this night. Awaiting English obit

Aye struggling myself on this one; Googling his name + death takes me to some geneaology sites.

Have you tried ringing the hospital and explaining the urgency of the situation from your end?

I guess he is a bit of an unusual pick in that he might not even obit in any English sources. I gambled on the fact that some Eurovision site might mention his death (he participated in 2008) or that he might be mentioned by the English section of Latvian public broadcasting, but he might also stay obitless. That's one of the reasons why I didn't pick him as joker.

But if he does obit, that's 357 points for me, right?

Right, and your idea of sources is also about right; trade press and/or some news website dealing with the music industry might be useful - assuming it's in English, obviously.

I've got this for Vaišļa, does that count?

I should think so.

9 - An "obit" in the context of the Deathrace is any news report in English from a reliable source. Such sources include - but are not limited to - UK national press, UK national broadcast organisations, foreign press and broadcast organisations with an English language thread to their communication, trade press in English, local news organisations reporting in English and coverage in specialist online sites, such as those monitoring the well-being of super-centenarians. Where dispute arises over the qualifying nature of a news source for obit purposes MPFC's decision is final. But he wants fast and furious competition and is generally very amenable to low hanging dead pool fruit of all varieties.

Aye, going on the rules I wrote I guess that Eurovision obsessed site in English counts as a 'reliable source,' and we love death fast and varied.

Okay, he's in.

Some great content under the line on that article.

Is this the Latvian ESC curse? In 2004 Gundars Mauševics, member of Brainstorm (Latvia 2000) died at the age of 29. In 2011 Mārtiņš Freimanis, member of F.L.Y. (Latvia 2003) died at the age of 33. And Jānis Vaišļa, another member of a Latvian ESC band, dies far too young …

Mārtiņš Freimanis

I liked him in The Office, but not so much The Hobbit.

Aye, that's a qualifying obit (though next year I was wondering if we lower the standard and accept graffiti on a toilet wall), I'm on it.
