Deathrace 2016

Recommended Posts

It does, however, get our defending champion into four digits.

Though, any one hit would still give Sir Creep the title now? My maths tends to suck.

SC needs 240 points to win, so he will reach 2016 as long as any one of his picks dies on or before May 5. For me that date is April 14.

Thanks. So, I need four of Bonnie Brown, Jenny Diski, Peter Esterhazy, Keith Farnham, Rob Ford, Phil Gartside, Rowena Kincaid, Steve Latourette, Eric Lubbock, Howard Marks, Sandy McDonald, Joost, Geoffrey Robinson and Pan Breed favourite Mary Wilson to go before any of Sir Creeps do.

Simple!

Actually, if three of them manage to do it before next Monday (Feb 8), you won't need the fourth one to die! Good luck!

A minor adjustment is in order:

Tributes have been paid to Derry City F.C. legend, Mark Farren, who died in the early hours of Wednesday morning at the age of 33.

Just noticed a minor error in the Master list:

Yasihiro Nakamatsue – bg, cc, di, sc, um

Yasuhiro Nakasone - bg, um

according to my records I did pick the former Japanese PM but I did not pick the US classical pianist who is actually called (Jon) Yasuhiro Nakamatsu.

I didn't want anyone to think I am cheating if they both went in quick succession.

Shame we don't give bonus pts for honesty (and,no, I'm not going down that slippery slope of Hollywood Squares/porn/dead on a Friday complications).

Thanks

The longer we go without a winner the more the irony of Spade's perfect organisation of talent and imperfect management of time linger over the proceedings. Incidentally, don't believe his spurious claims of being five minutes late on entry...he was SIX minutes late and my message box has the proof.

Fuck sake, this - allegedly - fast and furious feast of death is so turgid it fell to the second page.

C'mon, who's gonna score for us today?

The defending champion starts his last minute sneak up the table. Be afraid, Sir Creep, be a very frayed! *evil laughter*

With Rowena Kincaid and Lord Avebury apparently detiorating fast too.

That adds some pretense of tension to proceedings, as the late Terry Wogan was wont to say.

I believe this puts me a death away from a potential victory? Though the pool of those who aren't shared with someone above me is on the small side. Oh... Adamowicz, (SC has him, but he's my joker) Diti, Hudnut, Langhorne, (probably the best bet, given he's been in hospice for over a month now...) Rigas, Wright, Youguang, counting on one of you.

Fuck yeah!!

I'm assuming Gartside died today, so it's 325 points

Sir Creep - 1776

Devon Death Trip - 1759

Switch - 1755

Death Impends - 1751

Farnham, Kincaid, laTourette, Marks, Bishop Robinson, Pan Breed favourite Mary Wilson.

My route to victory will depend on the above names, having got rid of the ones DI and DDT have!

I feel the Bishop might be a lost cause, and that Mr Nice is more an end of the year pick if he goes. So, a repeat rests on Mrs Wilson, the two American politicians, and Rowena Kincaid. Of those four, I think Keith Farnham, being paedo scum, is a demise we can all fully enjoy if he snuffs it.

But...

Sir Creep has Jimmy Carter, Martin Crowe, Bob Ellis, Joey Feek, Ken Hechler, Susannah Jones, Emma Morano, Blackjack Mulligan (the one to worry about here), Overton, Nakamatsu, Huston Smith, Sharon Rockefeller, Szeles, Nobby Stiles and Lupita Tovar. Any of them going now gives him the title.

DDT has al-Baghdadi, Bonnie Brown, Caslavska, Errol Christie, Jenny Diski, Esterhazy, Fekete, Rob Ford, Gary Haggarty, Lord Avebury, Mary Vaughan, David Tennant’s dad, Ronald Mulkearns, Louise Plowright and if any of those go before Sir Creep's folk above, he'll win.

Switch is reliant on Tony Booth, King Bhumibol, Zsa Zsa, Gazza,Rev Billy, Havelange, Hawking, Odjick, IM Pei, Kris Travis, Janis Vaisla, Joost, Betty White. So who knows, Zsa Zsa might have the last laugh on all of us here.

Death Impends then, has his route to victory through Adamowicz (because of joker status), Parveen diti, Hudnut, Langhorne, Rigas, and Suzanne Wright. Less choices, but more outright ill ones.

And if Joey Feek went tonight, we'd get this in the table:

  1. Sir Creep 2101
  2. DDT 2084
  3. Switch 2080
  4. Death Impends 2076
  5. Jiroemonkimura 2052
  6. Msc 2013

I mention that because... if one of the six names at the very top of this post go FIRST, I can win the entire thing with Joey Feek and my joker.

There is an unconfirmed report on twitter via a decent source that Lord Avebury has died. If so, DDT has won.

We'll no doubt find out more within a few hours if so.

The Dead Cow's posted a Guardian obit.

Congratulations DDT.

A fine end to one of the closest Deathraces I can recall. No shame in going down in 5 sets to Federer.

Congrats to DDT then! It seems this has been by far the fastest Deathrace yet.
