Not sure what's wrong with it.  In English we would probably say "of Middle Eastern appearance" which is a bit less specific.

They tend to not say anything of that nature anymore.

Since when was it unacceptable to mention someone's race or racial appearance?

The German perpetrator is still at large and they don't appear to have any description of him now.  That's not helpful, is it.

I don’t honestly think that Arab looking is a useful description either - there’s a lot of them around but take your general point that any language rules that prevent a fast identification are not helpful.

1.92m with appearance of a male (although we don’t know how they identify) with skin of colour and a cuddly body shape and of working age.

Thats about as much as you’ll get these days.

That's why I said Middle Eastern.

It seems to be OK to say Asian, but that covers a lot of ground and isn't that helpful. For instance, someone from Japan isn't likely to look similar to someone from India.

Through that is basically the same thing. In Germany with a large population with Turkish heritage that could cover a lot of people

There is a truth in there. In many of the populist discussions that are caused by events such as this, it is useful to differentiate between the Turkish people who have lived here since the 60s as "Gastarbeiter", now in their 3rd or 4th generation, and the Arabs of more recent years, Syrians, Lebanese, Northern Africans - who would probably still be described as "Middle-eastern", interestingly.

Depends on who you ask.

There's a cross-over with 'Middle Eastern' and 'Mediterranean'.   Either gives us an approximate mental image.  Turks fit in there too.

Three people stabbed at the Notting Hill carnival in separate incidents.

Two people have now died after separate incidents.https://news.sky.com/story/two-deaths-after-notting-hill-carnival-mother-stabbed-in-front-of-child-and-tourist-attacked-13206755 Feels like the carnival future is now surely in major doubt.

Two people being killed in separate incidents is not a massacre.
