Here is a picture of Gowri Amma. By the looks of it she is completely unresponsive beside looking like a skeleton.

VS Achuthanandan to step down from all his public duties (he still held them!) citing health reasons.

Achuthanandan hospitalised again.

If only Europe is counted, I'd say that there are not very many.

However I did this "leaders who first came to power 1971-1980" list a while ago, and it's horribly long:

1972 -

...

James Fitz-Allen Mitchell (b. 1931) Premier of Saint Vincent 1972-1974, Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 1984-2000

Now has severe dengue fever...

Also, former President of Indonesia 2004-2014 Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono "SBY" has prostate cancer:

In early stages, I don't expect him to die before his predecessor Megawati Sukarnoputri who is well above the ages his parents lived to and has already outlived her husband and a younger sister and has recently been a subject of health rumors and hoaxes.

According to this respected account there are MP’s currently too ill to attend the commons atm. A further tweet makes it clear it didn’t simply refer people who have been diagnosed with  Covid and are isolating at home.

Could be any 1 or more of most of them( some people attended the debate and then abstained because they did not wish to vote for it nor vote against it).

You specified people who were too ill to attend.

Chris Bryant in his speech said it was inappropriate to comment on absences without knowing the reason, and went on to mention the MP for Ayr, Carrick, and Cumnock as being "very ill". ;)

Agreed that a lot of them have been dropping off recently.

Thought I'd take this opportunity to look at how many WWII veterans from the three strands of government in the U.S. are still with us.

There are still 13 living formers members of the House of Representatives who served:

b. 1919: Lester L. Wolff
b. 1920: Neal Edward Smith
b. 1921: Mike McCormack
b. 1923: Bob Dole, Al Quie
b. 1924: Frank Joseph Guarini, Weston E. Vivian
b. 1925: Fletcher Thompson, G. William Whitehurst, Lucien Nedzi
b. 1926: J. Roy Rowland, Elwood Hillis, Earl Hutto, Mark Andrews, Robert J. Lagomarsino
b. 1927: Benjamin B. Blackburn, Arthur Ravenel Jr., Austin Murphy, Bud Brown, Edwin Edwards, Jim Weaver, James W. Symington

There are just 3 living Senators who served (they are also the top 3 oldest living):
b. 1923: James Buckley, Bob Dole (also listed above)
b. 1925: Daniel Evans
b. 1926: Mark Andrews (also listed above)
b. 1927: John Warner

There are 8 living Governors who served:
b. 1921: John Malcolm Patterson
b. 1922: Wayne Mixson
b. 1923: William Winter, Al Quie (also listed above), Linwood Holton
b. 1924: Dale E. Wolf, Jimmy Carter
b. 1925: Ted Schwinden, Daniel Evans (also listed above)
b. 1926: George Ariyoshi
b. 1927: Phil Batt, George Nigh, Winfield Dunn, Edwin Edwards (also listed above)

Jimmy Carter (also listed above) is of course the only living President who served. There are no living Vice Presidents who served.

3 living members of the Cabinet who served:

Johnson administrationAlan Stephenson Boyd (b. 1922), Ramsey Clark (b. 1927) NONE!
Nixon administration: Henry Kissinger (b. 1923), George Shultz (b. 1920)
Ford administration: Henry Kissinger (b. 1923, also listed above)
Carter administration: Charles Duncan (b. 1926), Ray Marshall (b. 1928)
Reagan administrationGeorge Shultz (b. 1920, also listed above) NONE!

No living justices of the Supreme Court who served following the death of John Paul Stevens (1920–2019).

As far as I know, these are complete. I will do the UK (Commons and Lords) when I get time, but that will probably involve more research.

Updated for the recent deaths of Linwood Holton and Neal Edward Smith.

24 veterans remaining.

Also adding that J. Kasvi tweeted today that he finished the last meeting in his last official post today, 30th of September. I feel like this will be the start of a sharp decline in health, he's currently relying on one experimental drug, does not have a bladder, kidneys, prostate or spleen and now has multiple mutations including one very close to his aorta.

https://www.is.fi/kotimaa/art-2000008380845.html

Kasvi update:

Experimental drugs not working, now has cancer on his shoulder (pancoast tumors?) and lymphoma. He has set a goal for himself: To survive until the 2nd of February 2022 (3 months) when his biography is published.

And forgot to mention that he also has fluid in his lungs.

Rosie Cooper is the key one as she has not entered the commons at all recently. Beresford as you said voted yesterday on the budget.  He has not spoken much for a few years so if he is ill it’s something long term and diagnosed before the 2019 election. Next year will see the start of MP’s announcing retirements at the next election. If he is struggling with health issues we might see him announce it.

Christian Matheson looks well here despite his commons absence https://www.chesterstandard.co.uk/news/19645296.chester-mp-welcomes-progress-23m-full-fibre-network-mission-city/

Johnny Mercer is like a semi detached MP now a days as he only seems to vote on issues he is deeply interested in.

It’s not like the Brexit days where everyone turned up to vote and those who were absent had to explain their reason why.

I think Beresford still works as a dentist which may explain his sporadic attendance.

Whilst I'm here... just noticed that Labour life peer Robert Hughes (wiki) has taken leave of absence from the House of Lords.

Last spoken contribution in parliament was in December 2019 when he was sworn in. Noticeably struggled. Turns 90 on 3rd Jan and has looked like shit for years. I don't imagine he'll be returning...

He was also the MP for Aberdeen North from 1970 to 1997 and chair of the British Anti-Apartheid Movement from 1976 to its dissolution in 1995.

Yukhum Zvyahilsky is a very big guy for someone aged 88. Reminds me of Ariel Sharon.

Also on the top100 oldest living state leaders since Catherine Tizard died on Sunday.
