gcreptile 10,987 Posted March 1, 2016 An update on shameless DDP pick Jordan Lotter. Actually interesting because of what it says about medical progress. Obit-wise, the "the NHS condemned me to die" story is a guarantee, of course. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-3470099/Magic-bullet-treatment-giving-hope-cancer-patients-like-Jordan-British-doctors-trial-promising-alternative-chemotherapy.html

msc 18,490 Posted March 2, 2016 Kate Granger @GrangerKate Mar 1 Horrible night with pain. Big decisions lie ahead in the near future... On an entirely unrelated note, did anyone else catch her interview on BBC Radio about death and dying about a month ago? In it, she said she had a scan to see how bad the cancer had gotten "early next month" (ie about now).

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted March 8, 2016 Ok I don't see many offering up names here. So either I'm the only one what comes across them or y'all holding onto them to create a bunch of Shameless teams next year. Ok then. I thought we were OUTTING them so that no one would gain an advantage, or we would compile a list of names you can't use (once the overdue rule kicks in next year). Close to the vest then -- the current link I shan't post. SC
Sir Creep 7,070 Posted March 22, 2016 OK here's a CLASSIC example of a person to be argued about. Famous only for being ill? Yes. This has female basketball player Lauren Hill written all over it. Should he be allowed in DPs with a rule saying you can't be famous for dying. No. Quincy Jones is a 32-year-old stand-up comedian who had been diagnosed with terminal stage four mesothelioma. Jones wanted to leave behind some kind legacy before he died, so his friends set up a Kickstarter to raise money so he could tape an hour-long comedy special. The Kickstarter ended up pulling in more than 10 times its roughly $5,000 goal (for a total of $50,273), and HBO has decided to air Jones’ special at some point this spring after he tapes it in Los Angeles on April 4. Article says how Ellen DeGeneres gave him $$$ when he appeared on her show as well. SC

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted March 24, 2016 Auburn Univ freshman (well, not till next year) Brodarious Hamm -- no relation to Mia or summat -- recently diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma and is undergoing chemo hoping to be ready for Spring football. If he thinks his future is so bright he has to wear shades, don't blame him; blame his doctor."At first, I was scared,” Hamm said. “But I talked with the doctor and he said I’d be alright. He was just like, ‘This is nothing to worry about. Believe in the treatment and believe in God and everything will be alright.’ Why do I think Mr. Hamm misheard what was said? Either way, seeing as he has nothing to worry about, another name for my 'nothing to worry about/I beat cancer' theme team. In fact there's a team NAME in that doctor's quote somewhere. msc 18,490 Posted April 16, 2016 Rowena Kincaid has stopped all treatments and will instead be "clean eating" her way out of metastatic cancer. Update via Facebook Hope you are all well! Not much has been happening in the land of Row! I have discovered a new tumour, & been having a bit of a rough time of late! Not sure if anything can be done to stop it, as I've had too much treatment.....I may have to give it a name at this rate! It's getting big and only around a week old. It's a fast grower, & without chemo or radiation, I'm concerned it's gonna be a monster! Ahhhh.....New name! MONSTER!!!!!!!

Spade_Cooley 9,562 Posted April 19, 2016 If the DDP started in March then I'm sure Tony Skeffington, the terminally ill Leicester City fan who was "being kept alive" by the Foxes' title chase, would have been a very popular pick. And this also means that the theme team score record gets broken by Shameless, just a couple of days after the main competition broke the score record. gcreptile 10,987 Posted May 4, 2016 I picked Craig Lyons who made the news because he sued Thomas Cook for a missed 'last holiday' and won.
