George Herbert Walker Bush seems to be in his final days, that looks like it could be a game changer  giving an overdue Presidential hit

Funny how this works. I was just pondering the US Presidential picks and thought that if George HW Bush or Bob Dole went it would probably push someone over the top, but I see not. It would however create pandemonium. It would leave 6 people (myself included) needing a solitary hit to win (in a whole host of shapes and forms) while also giving Ali yet more potential outs.

Stone the Crowman, he does and that certainly puts the cat(weazle) amongst the pigeons because msc and Toast now have hits in four categories. G H W Bush might be the answer to all this as msc doesn't have him but Toast does. Then there are Rotton Ali's remaining uniques.

What happens if Bob Dole dies next? Me and Toast both have him.

I picked really badly in that category.

Bob Dole would hand you the victory as you have a unique hit and Toast does not.

So Bob vs George. Sudden Death

Ooh sudden death, three way dance, first fall wins. Winning here!

Right, that's the Lib Dem esque ramping up portion of this post done.

Bush Sr looks in fragile health, so I like Toast's chances here, but I can't mind who Ali's 6 uniques are.

I think his best bet is Edwin Bramhall.

Yeah, Brammal's a good shout. Quite frail now.

Of course, someone else could sneak up and win too.

Complete list of the 14 hits that would finish the game alongside who would win for each one. Ranked by my opinion of the likelihood of them going.

George H W Bush  (Toast)

Edwin Bramhall  (RA)

Bob Dole (msc)

Jimmy Carter (to)

Walter Mondale (msc)

John B. Anderson  (to)

Dick Cheney  (msc)

John McVie (ra)

Des O' Connor  (ra)

Lynne Cheney  (msc)

Brian Blessed  (ra)

Keith Barron  (ra)

Cliff Richard  (ra)

Tipper Gore (msc)

I think any of the top six could go.

Neville Wigram a unique hit for Deathray. So two hits away from Victory in two ways.

This game is amazing. The twists and turns! I'm not in the picture at the moment but still rate my chances. Surely the excitement of the ICC Champions Trophy is enough to finish a couple of old international test cricketers...

Scottish football

International football

African football

Honduran footballers of the 1960s

Football people Brian Glanville didn't get on with

Just for YW!

Nah, I shall come up with something if the need arises, fairly quickly.

This really is interesting in addition to his No.1 hit, his many centuries for England, running for US vice-president and being elevated to the House of Lords, Peter Sallis played Penley in The Ice Warriors (who are back on TV on Saturday) and was a hit for Death Impends, Rover & Out and Toast. This means there are now five players one hit away from victory although Rover will need Ross Perot for victory. Toast and DI are tied for the number of hits and therefore it is difficult to split them in the event of a tie. Option 1 is to give it to Toast as she got to one off first. Option 2 is to award it based on the number of hits in the smaller pool. This would be DI as he has two hits in Test Cricketers. I will update the finish list so you can see the options.

Updated post Sallis.

So anyone who isn't George Bush or John Anderson gives us a clear win.

The first person to shout (White) House?

Nice comeback by DI - I hope Lyndon LaRouche has his will in order then!

If @Toast & @Death Impends agree I have a solution. As there are two potential outcomes where you will tie you each pick one. As Toast arrived first I will grant her first pick but don't do anything until you both agree this strategy.

Do you mean we have to pick Anderson or Bush?

Yes, since those are the two that are tied at the moment.
