YoungWillz 20,914 Posted August 3, 2017 I'll punt on Foray, Moreau, Sisson, Sinatra/Marx and Bergmann for a full hen night special, with Hardy held over.

Hardy in top spot with others missing, imo (remember the BBC link there). Also, not beyond them to have a blast of Born to be Wild at the very end.
Joey Russ 7,210 Posted August 3, 2017 I don't think Foray got a full BBC obit, so I doubt that she'll lead in Last Word...
YoungWillz 20,914 Posted August 4, 2017 Wow. Robert Hardy (was quick after all), David Jones, Jeanne Moreau, Mark Wilkinson, Sam Shepard. So much for the diversity quota...
YoungWillz 20,914 Posted August 11, 2017 Glen Campbell, Helen Alexander, Clancy Sigal, Prunella Briance. Only 4?
YoungWillz 20,914 Posted August 19, 2017 In all the buzz yesterday, overlooked this. Barbara Cook, Ruth Pfau, Richard Gordon, UR Rao and Dr G.

Pfau took on illnesses and tried to help folk, Gordon wrote books which apparently are much more admired than the Carry On series, Rao was all about Indian space research, and Dr G's bit taught me about aboriginal death culture I'd never even heard of. All far more interesting than 10 mins of BBC pop culture icon anecdotes I'd heard many times before.
Joey Russ 7,210 Posted August 20, 2017 Brucey should be a shoe in for this week, but I think it could be a massive week this week. We already lost two more major names with Colin Meads and Dick Gregory, and it's only Saturday night...
msc 18,396 Posted August 20, 2017 Dick Gregory is nailed on Last Word fodder. Meads might miss out depending what happens this week.

msc 18,396 Posted August 25, 2017 Chap saved baby, got shot. Woman shagged Ian Fleming. Bruce forsyth hated his life, Strictly and was miserable about his lack of success. Brian Aldiss thought he was Dickens. Woeful episode, really.

msc 18,396 Posted September 1, 2017 This week on Last Word, apparently: Dick Gregory, the African American comedian and civil rights activist who was also a dietician to stars like John Lennon and Mohammed Ali. Jeannie Rousseau who spied on the Nazis' secret weapons programme. Wayne Lotter, the South African elephant conservationist who has been shot dead in Tanzania. Sean O'Callaghan, the leading IRA member who turned informer. He helped to stop a bomb attack which would have killed the Prince and Princess of Wales. And the jazz guitarist John Abercrombie.
