CastAway 490 Posted December 9, 2017 Quick question: what counts as a valid obit? Any English language, or just any obit at all? I've got the start of about another 100 or so entries to my list, but I doubt many of them will get English language obits...
FixedBusiness 407 Posted December 11, 2017 Almost done my list, need around 450 more people. Also in response to Cast, I'd assume it's anything that any of the DPs on DL accept as an obit.
Deathray 2,942 Posted December 11, 2017 Regards obit A obituary in any language in a newspaper.

I was actually wondering that too, with famous for being ill/old people since there's not really a rule for that. I only have like 10 of these type on my list but if I could get a clear answer it would be helpful, thanks.

Well, the first person of any true fucking significance was the former First Lady of Egypt. Maybe someone who is actually well known will be randomly generated...

Deathray 2,942 Posted December 31, 2017 Those asking about famous for being ill picks, rules are the same as the Hares Death Pool Celebrities are disqualified if they are a celebrity because of their impending death. For clarification Tom Attwater - fundraiser dying of cancer was an eligible pick for his fundraising. This man who became critically ill after being hit by a trolley in M&S would not be an eligible pick if his identity were known for a game held in 2013, if the man were to recover, his extremely dubious claim to fame as the man hit by a trolley in M&S would be sufficient to see him eligible as a pick if he garnered the required obit. Deathray 2,942 Posted December 31, 2017 3 minutes ago, Sean said: Would loved to have played if I had more time on my hands. Yeah. Fair point. I didn't even manage to complete my own list and I was just using names from IDAPF2018 (got about 900 in). As a concession I can guarantee that this pool will run in 2019, so if you want you can start preparing for next year now. Just a mere 168.25 names a month to think of or 5.6 a day!
