Canadian Paul 97 Posted November 16, 2006 Even better - it's also a hit for Deathlist's DDP team! I thought that this recent dearth of deaths was going to lead to a big one by the end of the week - though I suppose in a larger context, it's arguable whether one would call Friedman a "big one." No CPDP hits, but "Sunshine Stops Here" gets their first HDP hit.

As things stand, I'm 2nd place in the sweepstake and 1st in the draft so if things stay as they are I'm set to win $

TheProfessor 0 Posted November 16, 2006 http://money.cnn.com/2006/11/16/news/newsm...dex.htm?cnn=yes Of course it's the right Milton Friedman. How many famous Milton Friedmans are there? Sad, really, that he's dead. His theories gave me a college major AND a job.

Also, because he popularized the saying "There is no such thing as a free lunch" . . . in pointing out that there is a cost associated with everything to somebody, even if that person is not the end user . . . I think the quote should be "Free Lunch . . . for worms"

Windsor 2,233 Posted November 16, 2006 Milton Friedman is the 10th success of 2006. He is the 147th success since 1987. The 2006 list is now in 4th place shared with 1999,2000,2001 & 2002 out of a possible 20 lists. Also a hit for the DDP team pushing Windsor the Troll further from the top 20... maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted November 16, 2006 How many will enjoy a 'free lunch' at his funeral? This was - after all - the man who coined the phrase; 'There's no such thing as a free lunch.' BBC obit.

in eternum+ 22 Posted November 16, 2006 Hurrah! Now at least this year's list hasn't proven a complete disaster, even if no one else dies. And we've still a month-and-a-half of it to go... GO US!
Banshees Scream 110 Posted November 17, 2006 I'll make a risky guess and say atleast 1 of the economists will pass on by the years end. Milton Friedmen\ John Kenneth Gabrailth On May 5 2005, 07:14 PM I posted this. Both influential economists failed to drop dead that year. This calender year both have met there demise. Deathlist hits double digits. Fate seems to be mocking me. But atleast his death makes up for the absence of John Kenneth Galbraith.
