It's easy to forget that a load of people who did other things also did a bit of telly.

So London Fringe theatre bod June Abbott, who died in December 2020 has an IMDB entry which isn't updated: https://www.thestage.co.uk/obituaries--archive/obituaries/june-abbott and for more information: https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/3829155

Played Lorna Keating in Crossroads back in the 1960s. Pic on Aveleyman: https://www.aveleyman.com/ActorCredit.aspx?ActorID=94126

Aveleyman still not updated either!

There's no way to submit updates to Aveleyman anymore. They got rid of their email address because the person(s) who edits the site got pissed off with people submitting thousands of new movie/TV screenshots each month. Then they used to read Barbara's Obits and Memorials board for updates but that got closed earlier this year after a troll kept deliberately bumping old threads to sabotage it.

I've submitted this to IMDb. They've rejected a few of my updates using The Stage and The Times as a source recently (presumably not everyone reviewing edit requests working for them has access to those paywalled/membership exclusive sites).

Actually IMDb have been close to hopeless for updates lately. They refused to update Jo-Carroll Dennison even though the source I quoted was the official Miss America Organization Facebook page (with a blue tick), and only did so once a local paper covered it. In some ways it's good to see them tightening up on how strict they're being for pages, e.g. I remember about 15 years ago Mara Wilson's IMDb page for months said she was dead, and her death occurred after falling off a motorcycle and breaking her neck.

I think as there is more than one source rather than just The Stage, that might help it along. I've seen IMDB update in the past simply on a Gazette mention.

Patricia Driscoll not updated I see. You know, that one is disappointing - unbelievable she got no press coverage at all. She's another Sally Sweetland waiting to happen.

Yeah, I've submitted the Gazette record along with the article. Could help somewhat.

I tried to update Patricia Driscoll, they just weren't having it. Credit to them where due though – they're one of the few sites which have her place of birth correct (London England, not Ireland). Even a lot of film books have this wrong.

So updating my Evening Standard Award Winners after the death of Bill Bryden brings the ten earliest Directors to 1996 with Katie Mitchell who won for her 1995 Production of The Phoenician Women for the RSC which I saw at The Other Place in Stratford. Everyone who went into the auditorium was given a sprig of Thyme.  At only 57 I do not think Katie will be troubling our games in the near future

Found out this week that Marc Wilkinson is apparently still with us. Not a name that would jump out at most but I like to think going "oh the Blue Remembered Hills/If... composer" immediately marks him as notable, if not household! Whereas if a week goes by without you or Willz or Toast or drol or Spade or any number of others interested in stuff outside my sphere bring up someone clearly notable but previously unknown to me, then that's a wasted DL week imo. Or even within my sphere of interest, after all, nobody knows every actor or writer in the world.

Vague reports that Marc Wilkinson is dead. Former composer and musical director with the RSC and the National Theatre, he moved into film and TV, scoring The Blood On Satan's Claw, If... and The Royal Hunt Of The Sun.

Randomly mentioning these old guys is a bloody curse - someone go check Alvin Rakoff's health quick!

Phoebe Frances Brown, who wrote a poignant play about her incurable brain cancer, has died aged 29. The talented writer tragically died at home in Nottingham on Wednesday.

She starred in and created one-woman show The Glad Game, which followed her experience of being diagnosed with a brain tumour. She partly wrote the show while she was in hospital and performed it at Hampstead Theatre.

Peter Howe, mainly stage actor who originated the roles of Iago in Aladdin and Michael Wormwood in Matilda, both in the West End, reportedly dead: https://www.whatsonstage.com/london-theatre/news/peter-howe-musical-actor-died_56706.html

Seems to be this guy on IMDB.

Of interest to us sci-fi folk as he was in Doctor Who: Other Lives audio story featuring the Eighth Doctor, playing the part of Maxi alongside McGann and the late Ron Moody of all people.

I've never seen as much fulsome praise for someone as is currently under his guardian obituary. It makes him sound like pretty much the greatest theatre director that ever lived. Perhaps he was.
