gcreptile 10,978 Posted April 12, 2020 Indeed, a flurry of hits... Stirling Moss, Peter Bonetti, Nobuhiko Obayashi, John Prine and John Downing as far as I can see. gcreptile 10,978 Posted April 26, 2020 Two weeks have passed and April came to an almost complete standstill with only two new hits: The late Johnny Harris QO for msc, and Howard Finkel for Cpt. Chorizo. Ed Genson and Rory GIlsenan seem destined for non-QO land. Genson couldn't even get the New York Times obit, and GIlsenan, in spite of being Irish, has not yet recieved a Times obit: Rank Team Points 1 Death Impends 509 2 gcreptile 472 3 Banana 467 4 Cpt. gcreptile 10,978 Posted May 12, 2020 Alright, let us update... even though Hutton Gibson (and Balbir Singh?) might soon become a hit: The new hits are Steve Blackmore, Sam Lloyd, Little Richard, and Jerry Stiller. ThePrematureBurial 224 Posted May 15, 2020 I don't know if this BBC article counts as an obit, but famous French baritone Gabriel Bacquier (1924-2020) is a hit for me. That BBC page doesn't count, as it wouldn't count for the DDP either. Classical musicians sometimes take their time though to get an obit. I'll keep an eye out.

gcreptile 10,978 Posted May 26, 2020 Alright, so we finally enough new hits for an update: Stanley Ho, Balbir Singh, and Gabriel Bacquier. But most important of all, Death Impends gets a hit with Ronald Shurer who gives him a pretty healthy advantage. Hutton Gibson has been picked, but seems to be a non-obit - if he is even dead. Luigi Simoni was not picked. Rank Team Points 1 Death Impends 719 2 gcreptile 592 3 RadGuy 574 4 Banana 566 5 Deadsox 533 6 Joey Russ 529 7 Cpt. Joey Russ 7,228 Posted May 26, 2020 There seems to be 70 extra points added for me from last time despite (last I checked) none of my other names has died or obitted in the case for three of them. I’m guessing that’s an error?
gcreptile 10,978 Posted May 26, 2020 Just now, Joey Russ said: There seems to be 70 extra points added for me from last time despite (last I checked) none of my other names has died or obitted in the case for three of them. I’m guessing that’s an error? Woops, you're right. I marked Jamie Frierson as dead, and forgot to uncheck the QO box. Will correct in a minute.
gcreptile 10,978 Posted June 3, 2020 Small update with only two new hits, Rory Gilsenan and Majek Fashek, a DDT unique. More importantly, this a reminder that the substitution period is now less than a month away. Remember, you can switch 5 of your old names for 5 new ones. And you can do so on the 1st of July GMT. As stated in the rules, I will already pick my 2 substitutions on the 30th of June, public for all to see. By the way, I have also decided not to award points to myself, should my pick Pete Felton still receive a QO. In the end, I've come to the conclusion that - because he didnt really get any obit at all - he just wasn't notable enough. There is a chance he might still get a QO if the Birmingham Music Awards take place this November (rescheduled because of Corona). They are going to give out a "Pete Felton Busking award". Although Pete Felton technically checked all the boxes to be notable enough for this competition, I just don't feel that his selection was justified in hindsight.
