Also, here's a list of living(or marked living on wikipedia) notable Indian people born in 1923:

Ones I'm not sure are still alive are in italic

Ananda Prakash Sen (20 September 1923) Former Justice of the Supreme Court

Probably atleast three or four of these are already dead.

I've updated his Wiki page with two references that confirm he's deceased. Died at some point prior to 2005.

Social worker and DL cup pick Prakash Amte discharged from hospital after one month and a half of blood cancer treatment. Worth a punt for some minor deadpools in the near future.

Also, a few more suggestions for the ancient Indian politicos list:

Maharaja Krishna Rasgotra, 97: Former foreign secretary and diplomat still active at 97.

R. M. Veerappan, 95: Dravidian leader and director who held multiple ministerial positions in the 1970s and the 1980s, worked with Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa. Looked very frail in 2018.

Mohammad Abbas Ansari, 85: Jammu and Kashmir political/separatist leader and authority on Islam, wasn't a good friend of Geelani though.

Shibu Soren, 78: Three-time Jharkland CM, JMM leader and India Coal Minister. Young, but looks ancient as hell and has a long history of medical problems including heart disease atleast two bypass surgeries and was on oxygen with covid in August 2020.

Jammu and Kashmir politician Molvi Mohammad Abbas Ansari suffered chronic subdural hematoma on Friday and underwent brain surgery, but has regained consciousness, out of danger and improving (of course, he's from India)

Raju Srivastav still unconscious on ventilator but "can move his arm a bit". I've been following the news on his health for a while and he's been either stable or improving for the last week, but like in these cases (Vicente Fernandez, Lata Mangeshkar, Zhirinovsky) his condition was probably always worse than these news sites have told.

Had no idea there were any of them alive who were that old. Was he on your radar?

I think I've seen the name possibly once before. Kamal Narain Singh seems to have been a pretty minor name, only served under a month and I can't find much anything on him on the internet.

The oldest and earliest living Chief Justice of India is now M. N. Venkatachaliah, 93 next month.

Meanwhile, Srivastava suffers infection and fever for the fourth time, unconscious and seems like his brain isn't functioning normally.

Srivastav is still unconscious on ventilator after 41 days. The articles are still saying the same, he's under 24/7 care "doctors constantly trying to save him" but oxygen isn't reaching parts of his brain.

Former Prime Minister of India HD Deve Gowda has suffered multiple falls in recent months and occasionally suffers from memory loss. I am however quite amazed by how he looks in those recent pictures, looked much much frailer a couple of months ago when he was wheeled around with swollen legs.

Former President of India Pratibha Patil, who usually seems quite reclusive, actually made a public appearance in July when she met the new President. As far as I know did not stand up and had a walking stick next to her while she sat on the chair. Also looked very thin.

I'm a bit suprised by SM Krishna's hospitalisation. He seemed the strongest Indian nonagenarian CM, one of the strongest and healthiest 80+ CMs. SC Jamir is definitely in the best health out of the four nonagenarians now (Achuthanandan, Singh Badal, Jamir and Krishna)

Quick list of ancient Indian politicos (born before 1938), as we have one of (immortal) Chinese politicos. @arghton, your suggestions are welcome as this will initially be very incomplete.

4)R. Nallakannu (1925): Tamil Nadu communist. Hospitalised in 2020, and later survived COVID.

Our (second or third) favourite age faker R. Nallakannu hospitalised with fever. Also suffering from kidney infection, but currently stable.

I'm also wondering if MDR Ramachandran is still alive. There's no DOB on his Wikipedia and I can't seem to find a death notice (though I will note my research skills aren't all the greatest), but he was first elected CM of Puducherry in 1980, 40+ years ago, and I suspect if he's still alive he's definitely pushing 85.

Revisting this. This Times of India article mentions that M.D.R. Ramachandran is deceased.

Notes:

Arunachal Pradesh' ex-governor Mata Prasad died last year at 95. Not marked dead on his wikipedia page.

70s/80s Karnataka governor Johti Venkatachalam: Long dead? If she was alive she'd be 104 now.

Narayan Dutta Ojha (DEAD)was the Governor of Madhya Pradesh in 1987. According to wikipedia he's living, but could he have died off-radar at some point? He'd have to be 96 now. Same for 1980 Odisha governor Sukanta Kishore Ray (DEAD), who'd be 103 if still alive.

Compared to the list of CMs, much more born in the 1930s living and much more octogenarians still working.

Can you highlight the ones you're unsure of still being alive in a different colour? I can take a look tonight but I don't want to go through such a huge list.

Mata Prasad... are you sure the Governor of AP and this guy are the same person? Nowhere on his Wiki page does it mention him being the governor of a state for 6 years!
