That's a thought. Has he done *anything* since that massive stroke a few years back?

For the record, I love how this is set out, with the youtube links, obits if needed and editorial comments on the big names. I look forward to having more spare time to read through the list in greater detail.

Thanks msc.

He seems to be doing alright. He’s not posted on his Facebook page since June but in May he uploaded this photo of himself in self-isolation.

Ok still looking but JALN Band by December 1976 had added three new members: https://worldradiohistory.com/UK/Record-Mirror/70s/76/Record-Mirror-1976-12-11.pdf

Alan "Boots" Holmes - b 25 April 1940 (Founder member of Sounds Incorporated) (Joined after their first release. Left at some point before October 1977 - was he on their August 1977 release?)

Laurie Brown - played brass section of The Kinks, still trying to trace more - still with the band in October 1977.

Rob Goodale - hmm, possibly this guy now in Australia? https://au.linkedin.com/in/robert-goodale-81232446 Looks quite similar to the guy in the wicker chair in the above link. Still with the band in October 1977.

Of course, you might look at these three as augments to the band. If that's the case, you could ignore this whole thing - but then you'd probably have to take out Tex Flint, as he was just brass. I've not found any references to Willis Sylvester?

Thanks. All three added. Holmes also played with The Kinks.

Rob Goodale, as per his FB is from London and now lives on Australia's Gold Coast. As per the GRO, he was born in 1954 in Wandsworth. Nothing on Brown.

Willis Sylvester is listed as a member on their Rate Your Music page, he's the third brother and seems to be the only one still alive. As per this his real name is Zephrine Francis Sylvester, unless I'm missing something.

@Ulitzer95 1970s Vagabonds

Alan Kirk information here - currently based in Dronfield (not a spit away from where I used to live in the 1970s): https://www.find-us-here.com/businesses/Alan-Kirk-Dronfield-Derbyshire-United-Kingdom/5805542/

Confirmation he's the same guy from this forum entry: https://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/topic/149686-apollo-ex-jimmy-james-amp-the-vagabonds/

Alan Wood seems to be based in Sheffield as a music manager: http://alanwoodagency.co.uk/wp-blog/contacts/ (wonder if he's incorporated?)

Anyway, that is backed up by his entry in IMDB after his appearance on Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

Cheers.

Alan Kirk born 1951–1953 as per census records, so we'll go with c. 1952 for now.

Too many people named Alan Wood in Sheffield. Google suggests his middle name is John. Still doesn't help though as census doesn't always take middle names sadly.

Sadly nothing. Also seems AWA Entertainments is now in the name of someone else on Companies House so couldn't find him there either.

Moving on!

Updated. Found her birth record now that her real name is actually known (erroneously reported as Elizabeth Thomson before). Sadly only have the year. Maybe a more complete obit will follow.

Aw The James Boys - had totally forgotten them until I saw them mentioned

Beloved of those radio shows that throw in the odd bit of total cheese - and this is totally unbiased because if you really love that stuff check out Darryl Bullock's Worlds Worst Records radio show

Assumed this must have been a typo but yeah, only 42! Seems like there must be a story behind that - it's a decent track. Can't just be 'because punk'...

It was part of an EP in 1979 which didn't go anywhere. For whatever reason, the song was re-released in 2003 and went all the way to #1. Ulitzer is only looking at pre-1980 charting positions though.

It was released - first time around -  during a relative down period for Elton. He had retired from live performing, his substance abuse was at its worst, his delve into disco had been absolutely panned by the critics. He made a grand comeback in the mid 80s with I'm Still Standing and I Guess That's Why They Call It Blues, but Are You Ready... was sort of forgotten in pop culture until it was part of an ad campaign in 2002-3-ish time.

Updated, cheers.

The Scottish Sun did an article on obscure BCR members a few years ago. They tracked down Ian.

Random trivia – he also appeared in an episode of Friends:

"I fell off my chair when I saw that. Then I thought, ‘Well at least everyone knows I’m not dead’."

Wiki lists 22 Rollers - 18 of them still alive if we count Mitchell amongst the fallen.

Though likely only about six or seven of the survivors obitable and one of them - Davy Paton - mainly on the back of his membership of Pilot and work with the likes of Alan Parsons and Kate Bush
