Following on from the recent discussion about musicians' subsequent or supplementary careers, I knew Tom Kellichan of The Skids a few years back as he was living nearby for a few months. At that time he and his lady had a temporary job as painters/decorators doing up a house locally. Before that he had been a coach driver for Parks of Hamilton. They were waiting to complete the purchase of a music bar in Tenerife. I don't know if they're still there as we didn't stay in contact. Funny thing, last year we went to see The Skids and were in the front row, and at the end the drummer came over and gave me the drumsticks. Little did he guess that I was acquainted with his predecessor @msc I did wonder where I had heard it from before! That explains it as I normally have Sky Sports on in the background if I'm at home. Interesting story @Toast. According to Kellichan's FB, him and his missus are now living in Benidorm! Looks like he's still keen on the fags. Not ideal when you're approaching 70! Still can't get Jimmy and William. The one above could very well be William but I'm running around in circles here sadly. Most of the brothers appear to be on Facebook but privacy settings prevent me from seeing birthdays etc. I think they're all still in Camden, NJ. 4/6 ain't bad!

So, not had much success in tying down whether they're all alive or not and a lot of this is tenuous but bear with me... Allan Twigg - the article you posted suggests he lives on the Isle of Wight, playing with a band called Skybus. Found them on Facebook, friends of one of the band gave me Allan but his profile appears to be private or barely used as there's little info on there. There is a picture from a couple of years ago of him with a woman and it says he's married, so I had a look and found this, which would work: Tracing that back, this looks certain to be right: No word on whether he's alive or dead though. Interestingly, the Coventry Telegraph article suggests he adopted Allan as a stage name but maybe not? Funny coincidence if not surely..? Mike Crowshaw - the article refers to him as Mike Croshaw and searching for that name brought up Michael Croshaw, a musician from Coventry. Barely anything more on it than that as far as I can see, and it hasn't been updated since 2016, so I don't know what to make of that. I came across this as a likely birth in Coventry: Steve Bray - judging from your birthday if not year for him, I'm assuming you came across his Facebook page? Irritatingly not friends with any of his bandmates and strangely his birth doesn't seem to come up easily. If he is indeed from Coventry, he either wasn't born there, or had a different name at birth - I can see why you haven't tied him down. Kevin Harris - according to this that you may have seen (as you said, there isn't too much out there), Kevin Harris moved to London and has been a recording engineer for many years. A search on Facebook threw up this picture from a band called 'Laura and the Flakes' with Kevin Harris at West Eleven Recording Studio. I'll let you judge if that's our guy but seems likely. He doesn't appear to have a Facebook page (hasn't liked the picture or commented underneath). Anyway, even if no DOB has been found, he's almost certainly alive as the picture's from September this year! David Reid is too generic without more info I suspect. Hope this is useful!

Or you could just lift their birthdates from this article (scroll to the bottom): https://worldradiohistory.com/hd2/IDX-UK/Music/Archive-Record-Mirror-IDX/IDX/70s/76/Record-Mirror-1976-01-03-OCR-Page-0007.pdf Edit: Possible they've knocked a year or two off their ages - if Rover is right about Croshaw being 1954, rather than 1956, for example.
Ulitzer95 12,586 Posted October 28, 2020 Wow, thank you both! @YoungWillz, as you said, their record label has fibbed about their ages (by a year for Bray and Harris and by 2 years for the other 3). @RoverAndOut – the records you found for Twigg and Croshaw are definitely right, and I've located the other 3 – much easier when you have middle initials! The World Radio Mirror article is wrong about Bray's birthplace though – he was not born in Coventry, but nearby Meridan! Hence why neither of us could find him either. Updated. The entry has gone from almost empty to complete. All still alive according to the Electoral Register also. According to his own Facebook he was 78 in 2013 meaning he was born 1935/6 (records say 1936 to be precise). Obits for Charles Pope erroneously state that he was the last living original member. Smith outlived him and was still with us as of 2019. NB2: Today the group is led by Albert Cottle Jr. (b. 1969) who is referred to in multiple sources as being Charles Pope's son. He is the biological child of Albert Cottle, but Pope became his stepfather in 1981 after marrying Judy Dianne Futcher (b. 1945), who was previously wed to Cottle Sr. The Collins Complete UK Hit Singles book and various sources online erroneously give Cottle's DOB as 02 Aug 1941. maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted October 30, 2020 T.Rex - just looking at the CD sleeve notes for Dandy in the Underworld which says the band on Soul of my Suit is Bolan, Dines, Flowers and Newman Unluckily for Bolan and luckily for this thread the final singles - Dandy in the Underworld and Celebrate Summer (no line up credited on the CD but fairly sure Miller Anderson is on it) - didn't chart Oh aye, and fairly sure Paul Fenton's contributions to the band are limited to drums/additional percussion on album tracks only - he's credited on one song - Solid Baby - specifically on the sleeve notes for Bolan's Zip Gun (1975) but nowt about him being on the hit singles on that album

Added Flowers and Newman, turning 83 and 78 next year! With Fenton ruled out it just leaves Green and Anderson as possibilities. I'll revisit it in the future. Edit: This tends to suggest that Green played on Truck on (Tyke) so I've added him. 2nd edit: Satisfied as per this that Miller did not play on I Love to Boogie or The Soul of My Suit. This says he appeared on Laser Love though, so added.
YoungWillz 21,037 Posted October 30, 2020 Let's try again @Ulitzer95. The Tams. Right, established that Albert Cottle joined The Tams in Washington D.C. in 1964 (other sources indicate Floyd Ashton had recorded on Hey Girl) so whether he was on that single? As The Tams recorded exclusively out of Atlanta, likely he moved there. He married Dianne Fulcher in 1967 (she is sometimes referred to as Judy Dianne) and Little Redd (Albert Junior) was born in 1969 as a product of that union. Albert Junior's first appearance with the group was in 1976 at Myrtle Beach (books and radio interview confirm). Dianne Cottle married Charles Pope in 1981 after her divorce from Albert Senior, essentially C Pope was Albert Junior's stepdad. Charles Pope had previously been married before (as per his Legacy Obit). Gotta get summat out of that Cottle-Fulcher marriage in 1967?

Probs get mentions for both and being in T.Rex at the end. And...Kenny Pickett, who died in 1997, co-wrote Grandad (Pickett was summat of a proto guitar-god, likely the one who popularized violin bowing the guitar on stage before Jimmy Page took it on and also a mainstay of the band The Creation who were beloved of Alan McGee to the point he named a record label after them.)
