time 8,602 Posted November 15, 2020 Its the 88th birthday of Petula Clark; she began performing at age 7 in 1939, making her radio debut in 1942, aged 9. She was a major recording star during the 60's often recording in several languages - Here's the Italian, French, German and English versions of Downtown: (The Italian & German versions reached number 1, the English version, number 2 and the French, number 6). She recorded a new album in 2016 (and went on tour to promote it), and earlier this year she returned to the West End stage, playing the bird woman in the revival of Mary Poppins. In mid September, she appeared in a live-stream for the 10th anniversary of Kritzerland, closing the show (at around 1:42:50). She's the only person to have been the subject of This is Your Life three times* 1964, 1975 & 1996. *UK version, correct at that time.

When I was 4 or 5 someone had the smart idea of having me in the room when this scene from Doctor Who played and I was legit scared of shop window dummies for years.

Creepy little cunts. I was way too old by the time VHS was a thing, I was there as it actually happened (though The Magic Roundabout was obviously favourite). It was the scampi in Fingerbobs that would make me run screaming from the room.
