Alumni is plural.  This one comes straight from Latin, with male and female forms:

alumnus, alumni (m)

alumna, alumnae (f)

Not only that, an alumnus/alumna is a former member (usually of a particular school or college, so generally used to mean a graduate). If Gambon is a current alumnus, he'd have previously been on the list but not currently on it.

Tom Schulman, the notable American screenwriter who won the Academy Award for his screenplay for the excellent and famous film "Dead Poets Society", is 72 (some sources say 71) today.

Schulman's work was based on his time at the Montgomery Bell Academy and the unforgettable character of John Keating was inspired by one of his teachers.

Tom Schulman decided to adapt this script to literature due to the great educational values transmitted.

Schulman is also the screenwriter of "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids", "Medicine Man" and "What About Bob?".

Quite a talented and busy director too, line of duty for example. EastEnders kept trying to get her to return as she was very popular but she's adamant her acting days are over.

Very impressive.  Presumably that means she directed her onscreen  mother  Wendy Richard.

Soap actors directing episodes of the same show they  starred in during or after their time on the show is rather rare. I recall  stars of US soap Dallas Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy,  Linda Gray and  Steve Kanaly all directed episodes of the show and Susan Howard wrote a few episodes.

I know australian actor Ian Smith worked behind the scenes on Prisoner Cell Block H, a show he starred in, but as a producer and script editor not director

Still must be interesting to experience working on the same show both in front of and behind the camera/production  and seeing the creative process from both sides.

Stephen Furst directed episodes of Babylon 5 and Jonathan Frakes did the same with ST:TNG including one of the later movies but there again both Nimoy and Shatner directed the movies as well
