I know many members have you in their minds at the moment LG. Tough times are often a feature of a loving family life. The burden of having someone so close having to endure the worst, ill health, part of life is rough for many to go through. Wish you and your Dad well. On matters thread like... The 2013 DL Con... I'll have a go at seeing what we can pull together, but I know it won't be a patch on what you could have put together and I'm sure it been a wonderful LG production. OK, so DL Con VII (Canterbury really has to be judged as Con VI because of the turnout) is to be in Scotland. I think Edinburgh is most people's ideal to be the backdrop city (however the Glasgow, 5th Oct, original idea still has some merit) but the venue will be even harder to get right. Remembering that with the Fringe and Tattoo on in August it is a busy period for Edinburgh between the 2nd and the 26th. I'm interested to hear what our Scottish members have in the way of good ideas about what venue may work well for a DL Convention. Should it be a countryside or Golf venue instead? However high summer dates are tight if we pin down the middle to the end of August. I have plans in motion between the 17th to the 26th August so for me that opens only two weekends about the Saturdays of the 10th and 31st Aug. Beyond that it is Oct 19th or 26th (but now clashing with a holiday of mine and the Indian Grand Prix). Or find a compromise weekend some any old time in the latter half of the year. Travel options look like car, coach, train or plane. No matter which, I feel each method could open up interesting and fun chances to travel to the Con together with other members. We could all keep abreast of each others progress and turn it into an homage to a Top Gear challenge. Anyway over to those who count...

So its the pope's last day and I just imagine him leaving the Vatican and they stop him on the way out and ask for his gold cross and funny hat . He hands them over and their like ''and your other cross'' he has tucked in his socks. He also has this overly large trench coat on and as he is leaving it just explodes with catholic paraphernalia. Gold candle sticks , goblets and a oil painting of Mary Magdalene everywhere. He can always claim the devil made him do it so its all good.

I am a passive Leicester City supporter. I know when they are playing and check the score but I have only once ever been to a game. I dont think there is much on Planet Earth that can make you feel so involved and alive watching a live match............... unless you watch Leicester City. I support Rangers Nah, its Spurs, im addicted to supporting them and its an addiction im not ashamed of. I try to get to as many games as I can but its a 200 mile round trip, two tickets and a pile of money spent in the Spurs shop which adds up. Worth it tho.

Biggest death of the year so far I'd say. One of the modern greats. Amazed he's never been on the list! To be honest, I'd never heard of him before the start of the year when his name appeared on lots of lists. Maybe the committee hadn't either.
