Well, to be fair, they are very racist. So much so, in fact, that at least one member of the royal family has been known to don nazi uniform.

Nah. You cannot say, do you people still throw spears at each other to Australian Aborigines and not be a casual racist. You cannot say, you survived not getting eaten to a student hiking in Papua New Guinea and not be a casual racist. This would be like saying, to Prince Phillip, so how many concentration camps did your wife's ancestors set up in South Africa? and How many Turks did your dad slaughter? Culturally, his people are just as weird as everyone else and everyone has ancestors who were monsters.

I don't condone racism. True racism is vile. I just don't agree with the modern obsession of interpreting everything as racism, down to a mere mention of someone's ethnicity. I'll leave it to the snowflakes.

He's more tactless than racist, I feel, with such lack of tact revealing itself in off-colour remarks which can be/are construed as racist, and at face value some are undoubtly racist. But hes not racist like the Met. I disagree. He is so unracist that he doesn't recognise the things he says as racist because he doesn't recognise difference in race. Most of the things he says relates to culture rather than race, or factual racial differentials such as Chinese people having slitty eyes...which they do. People just like to be offended these days. Including me. Can't get enough of being the victim.

A fair point about the equal ops above and... Sometimes he was funny - can't recall which country was celebrating its independence from the UK but when the Union Jack was coming down and the new national flat was being hoisted he tapped the proud president on the shoulder and said "Are you sure about this old boy?"

If it stents then I'd say so far so good for Philip. My mum had to take a lot of care in the weeks after having stents inserted as the risk of heart attack remains high. Heart disease can be unpredictable, my grandmother died after her heart basically exploded aged 62, while my Grandfather survived two heart bypasses and numerous heart attacks before he died in his late 70's. While I hope Philip makes to 100, he's probably in the final furlong of life. This was in today's Popbitch mailout - FYI - Long time lurker.

I worked in a hospital for years and this is quite common. Long family vigil for days & the minute they nip out for a coffee the patient dies. Some of the nurses would even suggest the family went out for a bit of fresh air, believing that the patient was just hanging on until they were on their own. My Dad did something similar. It was the first time we’d persuaded mum to leave his beside in 48 hours and my sister wouldn’t have coped if he’d died while she was in the room on her own. In the end it was just him and me. I think he knew I’d be the one who would cope the best.

Perhaps they don't understand why NASA gets them to pose with a wee toy version of the spacecraft.
