Others mentioned, James Dean, as a prime example, transcended his short film career because he captured the mood and feeling of a generation. People copied what he wore, his demeanour, and his style. I personally think he was an inspiration to a lot of black people because before him there were not many black actors or even characters to look up to in MCU. Since the film came out a lot of kids and adults now can dress up as Black Panther because they are/were represented finally. "Black Panther" was a big success but he was overshadowed somewhat by Michael B Jordan as Killmonger who is nominally the villain but with whom the film's sympathies clearly lie. He also specialised in biopics of american figures (Jackie Robinson, Thurgood Marshall) who are much less known outside the United States and are comparatively little seen as a result. I have had to reread this a dozen times to gauge whether it was written by a 5 year old or somebody that truly believes that the world only started spinning in 1993. Sidney Poitier, Denzil Washington, Eddie Murphy, Samuel L Jackson, Richard Roundtree, the list could go on, black actors that made their mark with all races, some at a time when racial intolerance was considerably worse than it is now. Like, they were not inspiring to black people long before this guy existed? How easy to make a God out of an ordinary man because it fits the narrative. I actually think he was much more of a promising Dramatic actor when he played Jackie Robinson and James Brown right after eachother. Quickly after that he got gobbled up by the "Marvel Superhero Franchise Machine" where all actors kind of get lost. I think he would have maybe achieved way more Dramaticly interesting roles in his short life if he contineud going on the road that he did in his early carreer and not commit to this huge franchise in which actors get very little to do. A shame he died and in my honest opinion, in terms of actively working big Hollywood actors, the biggest shock dead since Philip Seymour Hoffman (making it clear again that this is Just An opinion). 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
