One of the greatest footballers of all time and his memoirs were vastly entertaining too. Nureyev tried to seduce him! RIP

Franz Beckenbauer, the legendary sweeper who played for West Germany's national team from 1965 to 1977, died at 78 years:

https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/fussball/unser-fussball-kaiser-mit-78-gestorben-franz-beckenbauer-ist-tot-86680790.bild.html

He spent the bulk of his club career with Bayern Munich, appearing in 427 matches from 1964 to 1977. He also managed the team for a time after his retirement.

I never expected HIM to be our first hit this year or to be a hit this early...

Curious case, president of football club Hertha BSC Berlin, Kay Bernstein, dies of a heart attack at 43:

He got into office in 2022 as the fans' choice, being a member of the Fan community himself.

Damn, I think we had him briefly in our sight last year. He did have some problems.

Maybe he couldn't cope with the fact that the current movie about Milli Vanilli isn't doing so well... ;)

However, he himself was briefly a successful Schlager singer.

1976 No. 1 in the German charts for 4 weeks: Rocky

Wondered whether I could shoe horn him into my TOTP theme team! Alas, he didn’t really qualify.

A loss to lip syncers around the world. RIP.

Hopefully he isn't cremated so Fab Morvan gets the fully deserved chance to dance on his grave.

We had Frank Farian on our long long long list.

Last year we had Ralph Siegel but dropped him this year.

Boney M are genuinely great fun. That's how I like my manufactured pop. (And tbf Liz Mitchell carried them.)

Less said about Milli Vanilli the better though.

In fact, my favorite Boney M. song is "Belfast", sung by Marcia Barrett. This must have been one of the few hit songs that wasn't sung by Liz Mitchell.

After "Belfast" I also really like "Ma Baker", "Daddy Cool" and "Rasputin". Great party and dancing songs!

And back then, “Girl you know it’s true” by Milli Vanilli was simply a bop! I really liked it and still think it's pretty good today. Guilty pleasure B)

Huh.... I always thought that Rasputin and Dschingis Khan were produced by the same person. Turns out that Ralph Siegel only copied Frank Farian.

La Bouche was also a project. That singer died when a Swiss airliner crashed she was sitting in.
