One more I reckon. Well, depending on when you vote. It could be done after midnight I suppose.

39 Gotye ft. Kimbra — Somebody That I Used To Know -6

16 OneRepublic — Counting Stars +4
09 Harry Styles — Sign Of The Times

I haven't voted in over a week as I was getting bored and could see that non of my favourites were in with a chance (and the songs that were are ones I really don't like), but as we are down to the final 3 I'll happily cause a bit of honest disruption.

Also astonished that's the second best song of the 00s #1s. It didn't do that well in its heat did it?

Those scores were fucking nonsense. Sorry.

Ah, gotcha :D Cunting Stars is on 1 btw, not 7. And Gotye's on 55, not 54 (as if that matters at this stage)

And Gotye ft. Kimbra — Somebody That I Used To Know should be on 55.

Don't think it's going to make much difference at this point though.

Yeah, I noticed. And I only gave Gotye 3 not 4 for what difference it makes.

There it is. This marathon is over. The best UK No.1 hit of the 2010s is…King by Years & Years!

Staggering, then, that you lot collectively decided to do things differently, opting instead to crown Somebody That I Used To Know, the artsy classic by Gotye, as the UK’s best chart topper from last decade. Featuring those wonky guitar samples, the dulcet tones of Kimbra and a melody from a nursery rhyme, how could one possibly arrive at a different conclusion?

It has aged better than most, to be fair. And now it has won such a prestigious accolade as Kill or Save winner on Deathlist dot net, maybe Gotye and Kimbra can enjoy a well-deserved career relaunch. Here they are to play us out. Be sure to sing along with the fucking wall.

Wonderful. If you’re that way inclined, I’d also suggest looking up the rest of Gotye’s internationally sucessful album Making Mirrors if you hadn’t already. Not all of it is brilliant, but all of it is interesting.

Anyway, here’s how the grand final panned out for our top-25:

  1. Gotye ft. Kimbra — Somebody That I Used To Know
  2. OneRepublic — Counting Stars
  3. Harry Styles — Sign Of The Times
  4. Clean Bandit ft. Jess Glynne — Rather Be
  5. Daft Punk ft. Pharrell Williams — Get Lucky
  6. Years & Years — King
  7. Cee Lo Green — Forget You
  8. David Guetta ft. Sia — Titanium
  9. Lil Nas X — Old Town Road
  10. Ella Henderson — Ghost
  11. John Newman — Love Me Again
  12. Pitbull ft. Kesha — Timber
  13. Katy Perry ft. Snoop Dogg — California Gurls
  14. Clean Bandit ft. Zara Larson — Symphony
  15. Lady Gaga & Beyonce — Telephone
  16. Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars — Uptown Funk
  17. Rihanna ft. Calvin Harris — We Found Love
  18. Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa — One Kiss
  19. Lorde — Royals
  20. Owl City — Fireflies
  21. Camila Cabello ft. Young Thug — Havana
  22. Lewis Capaldi — Someone You Loved
  23. Pharell Williams — Happy
  24. Yolanda Be Cool Vs D Cup — We No Speak Americano
  25. Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper — Shallow

And, as ever, here are the shittest 25 of the game:

X Factor Finalists 2011 — Wishing On A Star

Military Wives With Gareth Malone — Wherever You Are

Helping Haiti — Everybody Hurts

Cher Lloyd — Swagger Jagger

X Factor Finalists 2010 — Heroes

Joe McElderry — The Climb

Robin Thicke ft. T.I. & Pharrell — Blurred Lines

Gary Barlow ft. Commonwealth Band — Sing

Psy — Gangnam Style

The Script ft. Will.I.Am — Hall Of Fame

Sam & The Womp — Bom Bom

One Direction — One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)

Band Aid 30 — Do They Know It’s Christmas?

Gareth Malone’s All Star Choir — Wake Me Up

Sam Smith — Writing’s On The Wall

Ed Sheeran — Sing

The Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir — A Bridge Over You

Charlie Puth ft. Meghan Trainor — Marvin Gaye

Artists For Grenfell — Bridge Over Troubled Water

Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee ft. Justin Bieber — Despacito

Ed Sheeran — Shape Of You

LadBaby — I Love Sausage Rolls

Tones And I — Dance Monkey

LadBaby — We Built This City

Lil Dicky ft. Chris Brown — Freaky Friday

Proud of you all for getting rid of LadCunty as swiftly as you did. Well done guys.

Now, prepare for a bit of whiplash: for the next game, we’re rewinding all the way back to, well, the start of the UK charts: the 1950s. Even if this might be outside your musical tastes/knowledge, I do hope you’ll all be brave enough to join in with the fun there. It might be an education. It’ll definitely be a good laugh.

I would have it in my top 5 so the result is good enough for me. Sure, it was overplayed to hell in 2012 in a way that no songs are now (due to radios being behind the times, in my opinion). I love progression in my pop, and the way the tension builds for the first 3 minutes is unlike much else.
